Qantas move to T1 in PVG.

There are certainly signs of construction in T1 at PVG now though I could only see what looks like new retail outlets being built.... the lounge at 19B is a slum, warm drinks, uneatable food, packed with locals making sure all their bodily functions are operating ok, slow WiFi and furniture that looks like it came from a 1980s bedsit... upstairs in the main departure lounge was a 100% improvement on the lounge experience.

I agree with above poster, do no (and I mean do not) go to 19b lounge. It is no bigger than your kindergarten classroom and food is like your local take away shop quality.

If you have PP go to the one on the gate level next to 17 instead (the old JAL lounge).

Oh wow! Just read an MU trip report with a transit in PVG. While the lounge 'featured' in that report is not 'Lounge 19B' but rather 'Lounge 22' - if the latter is anything to go by it looks woeful!!

So the new Lounge 36 in T1 PVG is open. Its an improvement on the old 19B but probably not as good as the old CX lounge. Drinks are still warm. It seems QF WP only get access to the business lounge, not the first lounge which sucks.

Seemingly opened early Dec from a comment on OMAAT. Surprised QF hasn't made note of it.

2 months ago flew from shanghai and was dreading the awful downstairs lounge to find i was being sent to the new lounge. the lounge was very crowded but about 800x better than the 19B awful lounge.

Well, I think this has finally tipped me over the edge to Cathay. The 19B lounge is a step down from an average lounge in terminal 2, to a dog's breakfast in terminal 1.

Why would I fly PVG>SYD>MEL and have access to a terrible pvg lounge, when I can fly Cathay and use Lounge 68 and The Pier or The Wing First in HK? Combine that with the coughpy old unrefurbed A320 with tiny screen you get on Qantas.... My god, what a terrible product.

I thought a bonus might be that I could use the JAL lounge in terminal 1, but it closes at 18:30 and QF130 flies out at 20:05.

Sorry,already acknowledged my typo in an earlier post. They are 330's. Most have now been refurbed.

Specifically 10/10 333s and 16/18 332s are refurbed. The non-refurbs are presently predominately on SYD-HNL and domestic services (with a few unlucky Asian services out of SYD). From late-Jan it appears they will be rostered SYD-PEK and most QF5/6 SYD-SIN
