Qantas "New Economy class"

I booked a couple of tickets in QF Premium Economy (T) using the Good News two for one sale. I checked under 'My Bookings' on the QFF website and the bookings now have a note Note: your flight will be in New Economy class. Class: New Economy

Anyone any idea what that means? Is that the new name for Premium Economy? The fare rules etc have not changed. (Called Qantas and they've never heard of it)

It's probably an Amadeus Employees translation of "Premium Economy".

What is your seat pre-allocation?

The seat allocation QF9 is 34A+B and back QF30 35A+B (which is the T class cabin but that only shows if you plug the details in the BA website - I've verified them on Expertflyer, where do you get your seat allocation from?)

The weird thing is that the note hasn't come up 'till recently, are you suggesting Amadeus employees have free reign over what they call classes?

MelUser, just to confirm, yes, that was booked through the Two for One deal (finally a Qantas e-mail worth reading) around last November.

Often with more than one PAX on a booking, Qantas will not show seat pre-allocation.

You can also find your Qantas booking reference and plug it into www.checkmytrip.com along with your surname.

Once 'logged' into C/M/T with your booking information showing, look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for

view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests

Click the "

view details" and the window will expand and you should see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map. ... (note this seatmap will locate you for seating) ... compare this with that on Qantas.com.

Mere conjecture; Amadeus is European and some interpretation can be slightly off the mark. I guess it's a matter of "wait and see".

I had exactly the same issue - melbourne - Hong Kong in aug

Called Qantas and they told me that our seats where defintely still premium economy and that there had been "no downgarding of the aircraft" - I smell a rat

I don't know about the translation "new economy" but there have been some issues with the GDS's surrounding Qantas's T and W class, I know on Galileo which I operate on it still comes up on itineraries as economy (even though its definately booked into W and T as Premium), so it may be a similar issue.

I've e-mailed Qantas in the mean time through the website and their response is as follows: -

"We have checked your booking and your ticket details and can confirm you are booked in our Premium Economy Cabin.
We apologise for any confusion and have reported the error".

So basically, we know but can't fix it ourselves.

There is such a thing as New Economy. When booking flights I have seen it say new Economy instead of Economy. I think it was on QF10 that I saw this. I assume it is what they are calling their refurbished 747's with a Y+ offering but that is pure speculation and I am sure it is no different to a normal Y flight.
