QF73/QF74 SYD/SFO/SYD

No F cabin service from 12APR10 to 06JUN10. Affected pax rebooked into the Business cabin.
QF29/QF30 MEL/HKG/LHR/HKG/MEL

No F cabin service from 12APR10 to 06JUN10. Affected pax rebooked into the Business cabin.

Only for April to June, is there a delivery delay? Seems silly to can F for 3 months and then restart it.

I presume pax who've paid for F get a refund equivalent to them buying J tickets in the first place?

...and they still get to sit the F cabin?;)

As long as the planes don't get replaced with a 2 class plane, and they allocate the right seats. :) If I had a J ticket on one of those flights, I'd be requesting a seat as close to the front as possible. :)

I thought QF stopped their F service MEL-HKG long time ago. I got J class MEL-HKG on QF29 in March with seat 4E.

So for once the "cabin redefinition" works to my favour :)

I'm flying on QF29 in May; having never flown in Zone A of a 747 before, I have no idea what seat to pick! Will be travelling solo. Should I go for 1A, 1K or something else altogether?

My preference is 2A or 2K; has a bit more room than 1A or 1K.

IIRC the last row seats in Zone A have a large shelf space (5K I believe especially).

1A and 1K are more private than the other seats (having a cabinet between them rather than 2 more seats).

Which would you recommend for a better view (notwithstanding that it's an overnight flight)?

IME all window seats have much the same view as one another. I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear, although if you mean which seat has windows which you have to least move in order to see out of them, I'm not sure (i.e. can't remember which rows have windows which "best line up" with the seat).

I think you mean row 4 - haven't noticed difference in shelf space between 4A and K however, both shelves seem just as large.

No delivery delay, just that they cant sell enough F seats to make it viable operating the F cabin & service, therefore it will be sold as J presumably until the aircraft are reconfigured as J/W/Y only.

(not that it matters cause you've already selected the seat but...)

1A is a great seat for the view. It's kinda strange almost-looking forward of the a/c whilst flying.

It's also strange having to look down, and *back* to see the ramp rats attaching the tug and pushing back.

And Damn the re-shuffle. I just spent another 17500 points and $8.10 in taxes to change to a J redemption so I could sit in Zone A on a flight :p

And FWIW, I took 2A this time. 1A was too cramped when I flew it last (although the copious amounts of Wyborowa Single Estate and Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Millénaires quickly made me forget any cramped environment :D )

I've sat in 3K and 4A in the last few weeks. Row 3 has the most room between the window and centre seats. 4A was great for resting laptop etc but the end of the bed had a curve slightly reducing space. Being very tall I think I'd go for 3A or K next time although I'd like to sit in row 1 at least once!

That's the theory I've gone with - it's probably my one and only opportunity to park my behind in a F seat on a QF 744, so might as well sit in row 1! :)

Not always the best seat and the only reason I could see is to have the satisfaction of having a F Premium BP from QF with 1A in large print on it.

For a very tall person, you might just find there's not much room. Maybe the allure of F is a forgiving factor :) (although if it's only a half-upgrade, you do miss out on all the "trimmings", unfortunately).

Damn. I have an SFO-SYD flight in early May booked, just checked the Select Seats page and even though I can now see rows 34-50 (Y+ I'm pretty sure?) none of the seats are showing as available...

Anyway anyone know a lowly PS like myself can get access to some nice Y+ goodness?

rambisyouth,

It is very possible that they do not show up as available to a PS though. :)

Looks that way. 34-39 are all showing up as blocked on EF. I put my QFF number in and they all become un-blocked. May be SG/WP only for pre-allocation.
