QANTAS not accepting international lounge invitations in Sydney till end of Dec 2023

I’ve come up against the “ineligible” error when trying to activate a P1 pass transferred to my son for our family flights on the 26th out of Sydney. Reading the T&C’s of the passes there is no mention of blackout periods with the caveat access maybe declined on the day due to capacity constraints and if so the pass will be reinstated. So…

I called the SST who advised they don’t have anything to do with the passes and they transferred me to FF service desk

FF Service desk advised that they don’t have any control and the blackout was imposed by the actual lounge.

They apparently spoke to the lounge and then transferred me to the first lounge who promptly answered and then hung up.

Pretty poor form but unfortunately I wasn’t at all surprised when they didn’t answer.

I gave my daughter some complimentary lounge passes to use 21 Dec at Brisbane domestic whilst waiting for their Sydney flight. They were unable to link them to their flight. I told her to keep trying. Maybe there is a blackout period. Never have seen this previously.

Which one? The International J lounge, the domestic J lounge or the domestic QF Club (or all of them)? So many to choose from at Sydney. Makes you think that Sydney is an afterthought for QF.
I was referring to the international J lounge, which is what I thought the OP was referring to. I didn't read carefully enough — they were referring to the international F lounge, which I wouldn't describe as tired though some of the furniture needs updating/refurbishment.

As another data point, just tried using a lounge pass for a friend for Singapore (prior to QF38) and it wouldn't accept it.

And here I am in the J lounge in Syd waiting for my flight.

The airport itself is a zoo. At least 40 people were queued up for business checkin when I arrived.

But the J lounge would be maybe half full, maybe a bit more than half, so you would expect the F lounge to have even more space.

But no invitations accepted to either till the end of the year …

FWIW, I was in the Qantas Club at Sydney yesterday between 2PM and 7:30PM using a domestic pass (thanks again, @Mort!) linked a couple of days ago. The lounge was dead for the majority of the afternoon.

That's good to know. Some relatives have been trying to link passes I gave them to domestic QCs and been getting an error. I might try for them on my browser just to make sure it isn't a tech issue.

The message I see in my account states that linking is unavailable on busy dates in December and January at Sydney Domestic and International, Melbourne Domestic, Canberra, Brisbane Domestic and International, Hobart, Honolulu, Auckland, London and LAX.

Makes no mention of Singapore but then again this is Qantas we're talking about here.
