Since when? Mind you I haven't lived on the Goldie for a number of years and therefore don't fly in or out but they don't fly there? #boggle

There is speculation though that they (QF) may return to OOL if Virgin starts offering business class on it's services, personally I doubt it but anything is possible I guess.
As regards the video I actually quite like it.
Cheers

Edited to add: Found a note in my diary that says last QF flight was on July 31 2008.

I wasn’t that enthused with the snippet of video I saw on the news, and I’ve previously seen what they’re doing in Sri Lanka and I honestly think they’re in a much better position.

The competitors are re-building a city destroyed by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, so they don’t need to fix infrastructure, like here, but it’s all brand new. The amount of money going into that city even without the bid is mind-boggling, so I honestly don’t see what the Gold Coast has to offer as an incentive.

Oh, and I see there’s a subway system in the video… yet that’s Brisbane :p

And robina.

Robina doesn’t have a subway system… while there is a length of track between Robina and Varsity Lakes that is underground, so I hear, it’s not the same footage that was in the video, which suggested a platform underground.

The footage looks to be of Central station in Brisbane to me. And I don’t see why they couldn’t have used footage of a train arriving into a Gold Coast station… but there we have it.

I had a look at the Gold Coast materials, and all it has is that, it seems like it's a nice place to have the Games, and it's generally a nice and fun place.

Then, I had a look at Hambantota, where it talks about inspiring people, and how having the Games there would be of benefit to both Sri Lanka and the world. It appears to me that they actually have a strong vision of what they are looking to achieve.

Comparing the two, I'm not even sure if the Gold Coast bid is being taken seriously at all.

I hate ads with children talking. It just feels like a suburban ad for day care or theme park not a pitch for the Commonwealth Games...

Qantas will get their fair share of pax into BNE if we get it...

I think the chances of us getting the Commonwealth Games are zero and none. I don't know why we keep doing those stupid kid promos, they never work, are a waste of money and really - do we really want them in SEQ? I say no.
