Flew Syd-Mel yesterday, and in Syd they are actually using the new boarding gate validator things - they actually look pretty cool.

Anyway I asked the CSM once on the plane what was the latest on OLCI and the response was that they are trialling the gate readers (obviously) and they are working fine, just need to be rolled out in all airports and that they are looking to launch in the next couple of months. He said that they were still working on how the system would allocate seats and how profiled customers would recieve priority etc...

Not sure if they threw that last part in after seeing my status - to reassure me though...!

That will be great as then I don't have to arrive at the airport so early in the morning to avoid the queues! Or more time in QP for brekkie!
