Qantas Original Routing Credit due to Involuntary Rerouting

Of your 12-15 involuntary changes, how many were situations where you accepted a reroute days, weeks or months in advance, as to opposed to within, say 48 hours of departure (including the day of)?

Have had success with both advance changes and day-of changes (example posted upthread)

Just a data point.

I had involuntary change (two times on the same route). The first I was both downgraded and changed at the airport service desk as the fault was only found after we were seated on the 717. SYD > CBR > MEL (U) became SYD > MEL (X). This messed up the whole PNR and my return flight on the same PNR didn't post.

The ORC process for that took a few emails and a couple of calls as they decided to only process one thing at a time and were confused by the 2 separate customer service support tickets lodged (one for ORC, one for refund due to downgrade). Eventually it got manually sorted and I managed to get uhhh something extra shall we say.

The second time, due to weather (?) My flight was cancelled about 5hours before departure and after 20mins the computer gave me a SYD > MEL (U) option. Took it, applied for ORC and automatically came in within a few days .

Have said it before on AFF and I'll say it again: ORC is not a pain at all.

From what I've read on AFF, most who have ORC denied are either missing documentation, don't clearly articulate that it was an involuntary change, or waffle on with excessive emotive language.
I do understand that people's experiences differ, but in my case it took 8 months for QF to provide missing ORC SCs for an involuntary downgrade despite a very clear email outlining the problem, providing the documents, saying that it was an involuntary downgrade, and clearly stating what correction was required. And in the end I had to send all the documents again as they could not seem to find them.

Like you I have made previous claims that went through smoothly, so I agree it does not have to be a pain, but I cannot agree that it is "not a pain at all".

If I get to take my January 2024 trip to Japan, I am quaking in my boots already because that has had major involuntary changes including to both connecting domestic legs, the international departure points and the international arrival points. Booked as revenue J all the way, CBR-BNE-HND-MEL-CBR. QF inititated changes made this arrival in NRT instead of HND (which did not suit our booked onward ground connections), and with a botched connection in BNE that saw us arrive in BNE just 5 minutes before the international departure. When I called them about that, the trip was all changed to CBR-SYD (now in Y)-HND (in J) and HND (in J)-SYD-CBR (now in Y). I cannot wait to see how long it takes them to rectify the SC and DSC for that. Stand by for more posts to this thread, I'd say....

Tangential but Ive been wondering. If you were on a QF flight that had an issue and rebooked onto another carrier, would you be able to double dip?

Eg QF flight became VA. I know you can apply for ORC but would you be able to credit VA to VA as well?

Yes

ORC email sent yesterday, now to see how long it takes to get my 40sc (mel/syd) plus 40 sc for DSC promotion.
QF 3 late departure on Wed, then missed the mark at AKL and had to wait for tug to move us. Missed my AKL_MEL flight, and sent back to SYD on a later flight.
At least AKL-SYD was A330 in 1A

Good luck🤞Mine has taken all week, was closed twice, emails with Itineraries/bp’s, they kept saying had correct sc’s & points. Rang first thing today, ORC 20+20 sc’s & 1200 points credited within the hour🥳 Very frustrating😤

Yep, email waiting for me this morning, asking if I rebooked or rebooked by reservations dept.
The email saga continues.

Now up to a week, rang this morning but Carl cant get through to the team to find out where my claim is up too.
Looks like I will have to call again tomorrow.

On 2nd call, the guy was able to correct it right away. Sort of.....
He said he would withdraw the AKL-SYD leg which had posted to my account, and then add in manually AKL-MEL, MEL-SYD.
Q3.jpg

BUT...

when I log into my account, I get 2 different totals. On the front loading page of QF I get this: (which is wrong)

Q1.jpg

When I dive deeper into my account I get this: Which is the CORRECT total of status credits that I have.

Q2.jpg

I called again on Monday to query, and was told at their end they can see 1243 status credits (enough to keep Plat for another year), he said he would re-set my account, but 48 hours later, I still see the lower 1143 status credits. I have no idea how it can be exactly 100 less. as in the first image the totals are 85 and 40.

I have had no communication from QF to say "congratulations" on retaining plat. (Do you get anything??) and my digital card still reads Plat until June 2024 (should now be 2025)
Can anyone tell me if their digital card extended date when 1200 SC was reached.

Not sure if I should keep following up for recognition or change on card.

It's the 100 SC Points Club Plus rollover. It counts to attaining/retaining Platinum, but doesn't count towards attaining Platinum One which is your 1143 figure. Mine is the same:

This is a side effect of you passing your WP retain target, it has nothing to do with the ORC claim itself.

Back on topic - I requested two different ORC over the weekend, once for an operational change on day of travel (moved to direct flight) and once for a schedule change which happened months ago where I requested the move to the direct flight (proposed change was right on 40 min D-D MCT at BNE).

I have recently flown a trip MEL-SYD-MNL return in paid J (I bucket). Owing to a slight stuffup on my part when the booked MEL-SYD flight was cancelled at very short notice, I wound up having to fly MEL-SYD in Y; this flight showed up in my FF history as "Economy flex" (1200pts/20SC). I emailed QFF requesting "original routing credit",, and the appropriate points and SC's for "Business" were duly added (quite promptly I must say). However, the original economy points and SC's have not been deleted which strikes me as a bit odd; not sure if this intentional or just an oversight, but will keep very quite about it!
