Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Bit OT, my P1 card seemed to initially confuse the lounge person at the Admirals Club in BOS this afternoon. She was happy with MrsM WP black card but was not so sure about my white WP card. After a quick chat it was all sorted and we were in the lounge. She made the comment that she had never seen a WP1 card before and a couple of the other staff wanted to take a look at it.

Interesting. Surely the oneworld emerald icon would be sufficient?

Welcome Jet... join the club

re events well funnily this should come up. Just got an invite now!

It's to the QF "Suite" at the MCG for the AFL Carlton v Sydney game.

You can tell they are a NSW/Sydney based mob.. the dress code mentions "club JERSEY" !!! LOL

The OWE icon was not in question, when they were looking at it and talking amongst themselves they said "it is OWE" (or something similar) they seemed to be more confused as to why one card was black and the other white, both QF, both OWE. I am guessing they did not notice the wording difference between Platinum and Platinum One.

To be honest, when next to each other, the P1 card does look the cheaper of the two.

Indeed! QF did sort of design themselves into the corner. I cannot think how you'd make it look more premium than the WP card however. I wonder what the CL cards look like?

It confused a gentleman manning the service line at SYD Domestic this morning. Once he read the word 'Platinum' he was fine. It does look cheaper, but it's irrelevant.

Seems very odd for a QF staffer.. is this the new design card? or maybe he is a newbie. very unusual.

I still chuckle at the staff at BNE when I showed it and asked if it was OK to make a quick pit stop and they just said "That card is magical. You can do whatever you like!" LOL

I received an "Exclusive Invitation to the First Experience Workshop" in Sydney in May yesterday. I can't attend because I'm overseas, but I would have loved to voice my opinions

Now this is one to which I'd really like to receive an invitation. It's rare that a year doesn't go by when I don't fly in the F cabin on each of QF, BA, CX and AA. This year I even have a couple of EK F trips coming up. I reckon I'm well and truly qualified to opine on what makes the perfect travel experience!!!

I did BKK-SYD yesterday and at check-in was offered an escort to the lounge.
First time that's happened at any port with QF.
Unsure whether it was a P1 thing or just my natural charm and good looks.

To which lounge exactly? Lol

QF offers no ground service for F pax to flagship lounges but they do escort P1s to CIP, go figure...

They've been actively directing me to the EK lounge for quite some time now.
Even writing the ticket number on the BP.

I still prefer CX though, if it's not too busy.

If I'd known, I could have accepted for you ... But you might not resemble a "La" M

Was a significantly older gentleman, but as you say, may have been relatively new. Very brief interaction, so wouldn't draw any conclusions. Was a bit surprised as, most recently at least, staff either recognise me, or as soon as they see the white card I am waved straight through.

So got tickets for the footy this sat, included there a note

Your hosts for the afternoon will be:

  • [ name ] - Head of Airline Loyalty - Qantas Loyalty.
·[ name ] - Manager Operations Performance - Qantas Airways.

I bet a few on AFF wouldn't mind a few hours to give their opinions... er... views... to Georgia !

Right - I am available if a ticket comes up :D. I'll happily barrack for any MEL team to get a seat. Sat - Carl/SYD or NM/GC?

Georgia had a good pedigree in QF (according to her LinkedIn profile) - worked her way across different Divisions (most recently Head of Offshore Airports). David is currently CEM for SYD (Dom)
