Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Good to get the quick reply -- but did they actually influence anything as far as you know? When I've been in that situation on other carriers (EK, AA and AY) I've had the "sorry, nothing we can do" response (which is completely understandable, but also pretty frustrating as they are in an alliance and a 'special' team should be able to help in these circumstances). But I guess this is an improvement.

I have had this situation connecting QF to BA. The SST did rebook me on a different BA flight. It failed in the execution but they did try. I was eventually able to sort it myself at LHR. Have to say, the end result would have been the same without their intervention I believe.

I have found with QF tickets, when there have been delays (even with other carriers on the ticket OW or not) they have handled delays pretty well by promptly arranging new onward flights without any fuss even whilst I am still in the air, I think in general in most cases this happens for most people even with little status, mass disruption is a different thing all together and is where P1 may help you get priority? I think the posters CGO-HKG > HKG-SYD probably would have been handled the same even without status.

I suspect that's right. I've had the SST call me hours in advance of a SYD-CBR flight to let me know my aircraft had gone tech (not advertised on the site as 'delayed' for a little while afterward) and offer to move me. In the end I caught the same flight as my meetings went over time but the advance warning and proactive service was appreciated.

Fortunately the only serious disruptions I've had have been in the US and as a OWE (usually flying AA F) I've been well looked after by AA terminal staff.

I have not chimed in here for a while. I went the simulator experience, that is a good event just takes a while for a space to come available. Some other recent updates I have had the the odd greeting from the CSM, few odd glasses of wine from the J cabin, opt-ups seem to just be a distant memory. Due to the late arrival from an international flight QF were kind enough to give me a complimentary downgrade on the connecting domestic fight.

Today I have just received my new shinny white card and was thinking it may have the new branding. Well as you can see the WP1 card must not have gone through the rebranding process or there is a stock pile to get through. My partners card is the new style, IMO looks a bit nicer than the older style.

Interesting that whilst they haven't seemed to update the P1 card but have done so with the bag tags

Looks like I will need to get some new coasters. The one thing I did notice when I looked at our cards again is mine has Master Card attached to it, MrsM is just a standard FF card.

You have to opt out of Qantas cash to get a card with no MC on it.
I just checked my P1 renewal card sent out in late April. It too is the old style.
Looking at those new coasters though I think I might have lost my old ones ;)

I'm quite excited to receive an invite that I can attend. Thanks Qantas!

Hmm. I wonder if they will do something in Melbourne.

I recently was asked to complete a survey by QF. To my surprise, it asked me relevant questions about being a P1. I answered honestly - lack of defined benefits meant that it was hard to see the benefit beyond WP, particularly when getting guaranteed award seats and upgrades still involved a bit of a lottery. I did not hold back about my dissatisfaction with QF9/10 changing to via Perth and a 787 and pointed out that decision has cost QF paid F revenue that won't be replaced with J revenue - my paid F travel to LHR will go elsewhere.

Thanks for the invite... will see if I am available :

First time, in a long time I received a P1 upgrade to J last Friday, I suspect it was due to my rollover and retaining P1 for another year. Unfortunately my desire to get home outweighed my desire to be in J and moving to an earlier flight ended up back in Y :(, at least it was an exit row.

Also with the recent changes to the exit row policy I have taken more interest on my monopoly on 4C and 4D and on flights over the weekend I noticed via EF that on both flights 4B was blocked, resulting in shadows on both legs :D . The flights were only a medium to full load so not sure if this is coincidence or if QF are being a bit proactive in uplifting P1 experiences.

I was on a fairly full MEL-SYD on Sat. 4A/C were both P1 (I was in 4A) and 4E was also empty.
I had wanted to do an ODU at the airport as I had a large shopping bag but the lounge angel advised that J was full on my flight and that I had a blocked seat next to me. Not sure if it was due to the bloke in 4C or myself or pot luck really :D

Courtesy of Expert Flyer I can confidently state I do not get seats blocked unless I ask (which I haven't bothered with in the first few months of this P1 stint. CLs do (including in J), though of course they don't always hold, especially the J ones where staff seem to take any empty seats. My observations as well as discussions with CLs and QF staff.

Yep, agree on this from my experience... and mostly why I never bother to ask (specially on a 737 in J it's VERY rare to not have a full cabin)

Surprise call early on the morning of my departure from Berlin ....... from P1 team informing me of my upgrade to First ....... that was very unexpected and only the second time it's happened to me while P1 but in different years.

A week into my first itinerary as a P1, which is a mix of QF, EK, BA and AA. The initial QF ADL-SYD leg had a very chatty CSM serving in J, a genuine conversation about travel patterns and wasn't "forced" at all. The cabin was 11/12 full and the only empty seat was next to me although this may have been more accident than design as EF did not show a seat block.

Obviously not expecting anything special on the other oneworld carriers but something to note was that an EK flight (QF marketed) was downgraded to a two-class 777 and hence I had to travel in J instead of F. This was known a few weeks before departure so I emailed the SST and asked about ORC. They replied promptly and said they would track the flight and apply the F status credits, which duly occurred without fuss.

So all good so far.

I'm guessing only an upgrade on the qf sector? Or did you get a upgrade from berlin as well?

Just querying the point of the P1 email address and the P1 phone number - I emailed them requesting to get a fully refundable flight that was issued incorrectly as a voucher converted to a refund - the prompt reply was to call up the premium (platinum) number. I also called the P1 dedicated 1300 line to cancel another fare to be then put through to the premium line again. I have had some issues with the premium agents not being able to process fully refundable Poli payments correctly (resulting in delays in the refund) so I figured the P1 people may be the best of the best and process it correctly ... Only to be redirected back to the premium #!

Just querying the point of the P1 ... *

My calls have almost always gone to the premium line too. But in my experience they are actually able to help, so I don't mind.

Without wishing to sound harsh, the P1 people are not the best of the best - certainly not for technical issues / fixes.

In most instances they will direct you to another department for assistance or act as a 'middle woman' on your behalf with issues.

To add to this, in my experience, when they do transfer you, they transfer you to someone who knows how to address the request and they brief them so that you don't need to go through the full explanation again.
