Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Question, how does the fly forward work in practice, can you ring the vip team or do you have to take your chance at the airport
Airport usually.

Technically the policy is flex fare types only. In practice many agents will do on any fare, but that is not the official policy. Airport agents often have much more authority to make these changes.

VIP can change flights on day of, but I would only call them in a specific scenario, vs getting to an airport early and asking to go on the next flight. For example, earlier yhis year I was on OOL, I was due to fly OOL-SYD-MEL. Weatger was looking like it would be nasty, so that morning I called and they happily put me on tge nonstop to MEL. So not really flow forward, and the forecast was known to be bad so it was common sense.

Usually fly forward is done at the airport though imo.

Flew into Auckland on Saturday and met at the door. Apparently this is a permanent arrangement for P1 and CL. Could be a trial that may be replicated at other ports?
Hasn’t this been happening for ages?

I’ve had hosts in LAX and there’s been reports in SIN but nothing concrete outside AKL.

I wonder where it would be most useful. I’ve had some really handy transfer assistance in DXB this month as a transit pax but if I lived here it may be less useful. It’s welcome but also random in AKL

Wow that’s good about VIP. I thought any changes they made would be for a charge

Same day of travel there is a bit of discretion.

With tge example I gave, the reason for change was to avoid weather issues - and QF routinely wave change fees and will change flights in these situations (via app functionality).

I'm uncertain if I just called and said to them I want to fly earlier for my own reasons (and not on a flex fare) if they would or wouldn't help.

Officially the policy is for flex fares (J C Y B M H iirc). Anything else is agents discretion (and again with known weather or other operational issues, there is far more leeway for all pax, not just P1)

From memory it's also on the app on same day of travel. I can't remember if you need to be checked in or not. I can look next week (if I remember) when I have my next flight and see if it gives me any options to change

It is, but ONLY when QF forecast an issue and only want to odfer it to all pax. Eg weather.

Ime, it's not offered for all P1 as a matter of course to do - one still has to ask to flow forward if they want.

Agree. I have a flight today and there is no option to change it being offered on either the App or website.

Interesting. The times that I have noticed it there hasn't appeared to be any issues (e.g. weather) but if I'm honest, I haven't had the need to use it so don't really look out for it. Will see whether it's there next week.

If you ever get a chance, try and have a peek at the FIDS screen available to the lounge CSAs. At the bottom it will note something like "FLOW FORWARD TO MEL/BNE DUE WEATHER"

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had received one time entry to Chairman’s Lounge? I’m travelling Syd - Mel next week and received a one time invitation to the CL Sydney lounge. I’m nowhere near C Suite and our company spend with Qantas has reduced a lot since Covid (though I am P1). I’m curious as to why they’d be doing this. Anyway, I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth and plan to spend my time wisely there i.e. eat and drink to my heart’s content! :);) I just thought it was unusual that’s all.

Consistently inconsistent.. I've never been met on arrival in LAX, but been paged over the intercom to see Qantas staff at the door just before getting off and given an express pass. Had Juan escort from LAX FLounge to the gate and down a busy aerobridge past other pax to my seat. Most awkward thing ever. Never again..🤣

And, randomly, met on arrival by a QF host at DFW following a flight from DCA for escort to the AA Flagship lounge last year. I declined but obviously we just ended up taking the same route via airtrains anyway.. Nice guy in the end, only a few months into the job. First and only time I've had a host at DFW in 20+ times to/from/thru DFW in the last few years.

I have merged your post and the replies into our existing P1 thread.

Over the past couple of years QF have sporadically given out CL invites to P1.
They are in the midst of a batch right now.
It’s a nice perk and definitely better for us than the J lounges.

Welcome to AFF

I get the awkwardness/embarrassment factor, but I'm at the stage where I am greatly appreciative of this type of extra service. Have had staff assist me with carry-on bags as well as running ahead to grab my suitcase off the carousel, pick-up duty free, cut through some security and immigration lines, seeing me all the way through to transport or walking with me to the airport hotel, board first if that's what I would like etc. And best of all fantastic to chat with some really lovely people.

Not perfect but I've had generally consistent experiences in SYD, MEL, BNE, AKL, SIN - as well as DXB and some European ports (but these would be down to flying Emirates F rather than being P1).

Great to see Qantas Consistency is consistently inconsistent lol. Arrived in AKL last night in J and despite being informed it was a permanent feature for P1 and CL to be met at the door, there was no one insight. It was also interesting that there was no CL or even WP on the flight and I was the only P1.

I came off the QF4 from JFK on Tuesday morning as the only CL/P1 and was met not by one First Host, but two! Was obviously a slow morning for QF ground staff, but nevertheless the escort through security was much appreciated.

My outstanding TA organises my F Host though, so I know that 99% of the time they'll be at the door.

Coming back to this I have been offered it on my flight today. It suggests a busy period so I guess that’s why. No predicted weather issues. Interesting given it’s a mid afternoon flight on a triangle route.
