Same here. Ideal for the open bar (G&T) and some decent desserts!I've found it useful even if not flying for work. In fact more so!
the point of arrival at the WP destination is to enjoy The Fancy perks that are part of the game deal and IMHO to achieve them by the lowest cost directly by you (helps if your workplace is funding YOUR flights or, if paying yourself, your home loan is done and dusted)
Row 4
priority queues at the GaTe and if needs be the call centre usually work & are helpful
luggage liberties perhaps more so with carry-on baggage
some interesting Op-ups (had a $29 JQ flight cancelled bumped to QF and ended up in J class - seemed to coincide with my status rollover date)
never any luck with upgrade requests
spa and showers a step up and appreciated during / after long hauls
however of course most these things are available through deftly (credit card churning and) booking F awards
been quite ambivalent about retention of WP Given coming from Radelaide where there’s been no J lounge.
And of course, we’ve all been short on international travel theses past few years.... but I do fancy the F lounge in sydney. So the another year extension is helpful With no need to stress nor spend (my own) cash to top up the SCs to get to the 100% LTG level...
Now being about 1200 Shy with the SC rollover of upto 500 SC, it’s a bit like the DSCs that you get without having to book DSCs..... IMHO being close is a matter of your judgment, and 300 more after considering planned travel plus rollovers. is probably line-ball on being a bridge too far if you are paying for it yourself but of course if there was a DSC.....
