Has anyone else been misled by Qantas regarding the number of status credits required to move from Platinum to Platinum One? I actually never researched the number of SC required and relied on the counter on their website ("Your Summary" page) to tell me how many I needed to reach Platinum One - which is what it has done to reach silver, gold and platinum status all along). This counter told me I would reach it at 2400 status credits until Qantas last website upgrade between mid January and start of February. I have brought the issue up with Qantas who say that unless I have a print out of the "Your Summary" webpage then they cannot confirm that this is ever the case. Who really prints these things out? I have to much other stuff to do and really do not want to waste paper or would have thought that I should printed this sort of thing out! Anyway, let me know if you have run into the same problem as according to Qantas, no other FF has had this issue.

The counter has never said you need 2400 to reach P1.

It has always been 3600, with 2700 of those on QF flight numbers.

2400 was for the "extra benefits", being a choice of: 50K points, partner gold, limo transfer vouchers

Welcome DaveP,

It is 3600sc but 2700 must be on QF metal. I have already passed the 2400 mark but it doesn't show required points for P1 (remembering it isn't a new level).

Welcome to AFF.

You haven't been misled, you have misread. I am currently in the 1200+ band so this is what the website says:

Current Status: Platinum
Status reassessment will occur: 31 Jul 2012
Status credits earned from 01 Aug 2011: 1,820
Additional Status credits required by 31 Jul 2012 to receive
additional Platinum privileges 580

The link on additional Platinum privileges goes here: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - 2400
which describes the three rewards you can choose.

Platinum One is a much higher bar -- 3600 SCs of which 2700 must be on QF metal.

Just to concur with everyone else it has never said X SCs to reach the new level - just additional benefits. In the past it did not show the SCs required to hit Partner Gold. It was only when the new options (50K points, valaet parking OR partner gold) came out that it started to show the SCs required to get there.

I’m sure what they meant was did you have a screenshot of the issue. Taking a screenshot takes mere seconds and can give some level of proof. You wouldn’t then need to print out, but just email it off, but I figure you probably didn’t do that.

As has been mentioned both on this site and by Qantas, Platinum One isn’t something to aim for and wont do much for you if you’re not already constantly in the air. If you get there regardless of this little mix up, then you will probably find some benefit, but if you have to strive to get there, booking extra flights and what not, it’s probably not worth it. Unless you get invited to an event to meet John Travolta in his private 707.

Unlike the other levels, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum additional benefits, I don't believe there is an automatic tip over into Platinum One either. I get the impression there is some sort of manual review.

To confirm what others have said I only ever saw the number of additional SC's required to reach "additional" benefits at 2400 SC's.

Is it min 2700 on QF metal or on QF flight numbers (incl codeshares)?

QF Flight numbers (but with a preference for QF metal as well).

edit: Just to clarify, all you need is 2700 SCs on QF flight numbers (so code share is fine). But Qantas have stated that they'd definitely like it if the SCs were earnt on QF metal as well ...

E-mail statements now show total SC's and SC's qualifying as QF. This is new I think.
I agree that P1 is nice to have - better seating selection if you are in Y, cheeky glass of bus class booze (again in Y), better availability of award seats, great service team when you need it - but it's not worth chasing. If anything my OpUp ratio has dropped since I attained P1 on its launch.
If they announced CL access I might think differently

I missed out on P1 as most of my bookings get done from out of Australia and as such the codeshare flight numbers are usually LAN or AA, even though they are on J QF metal. . Not that I see much in it for me anyway. But getting to P1 doing Y flights!!!! That is a lot of Y travel *shudder* :)

My Y is usually on coast to coast 20 pointers - 10hrs in the air for 40 SC's is really doing it hard

Thanks for the welcome, I think this is a good forum and nice to meet fellow travellers who spend far to much time in the air!

I understand your point and agree that the 3600SC is the level for P1. What I am saying is that before the last website upgrade by Qantas, the counter did not say additional Platinum privileges but did say Platinum One. I really don't care if I make P1 or not however to put the bar at one height and then move it is was got under my skin. Not to mention the implication by Q that I was being less then truthful, which just plain pissed me off. This is why I wanted to see if there were others who had experienced the same as I know what I read however have no way to prove it at the moment.

Also as far as the additional privileges, who would choose the valet or transfer option for so few vouchers at so few terminals?

Anyway, thanks again!

Love you take on it and agree with the perks however I am not really striving for P1, I am just ticked that their website said one thing and then after the upgrade said another. I agree that the total number of SC's has always been 3600 (found out after I checked after the website upgrade) and so happy to abide by that however do not like it when you call a company on something and they won't admit the error. Ethically it does not sit well with me and I do not do business that way nor do my customers expect anything less then my keeping to my word. Anyway, see you around the club!

I don't recall any reference to Platinum One. Prior to additional privileges it was Partner Gold.

Agree with you on the valet and transfer options.

10 hours in the air for 40SC? Must not be on a QF ticket then as that should be higher even in Y. Mine usually hit the 80 mark at 10 hours.

This was just changed in late January/ early February this year. Now there is in fact nothing on mine saying how many SC's I need to get to anything. I am well over 2400 but will not (thankfully) make the 3600SC. Although I will make 2700 on QF metal.

Even a screen shot, again who does this or would think to. Well now I will but I guess it is a live and learn sort of exercise. Good old JT, I prefer him to the new announcer but thats just my never to be humbled opinion! I will never strive to reach a new level but see it more as a lessening of the discomfort for all the travel I do. Thanks for your weigh in!
