Qantas Points Club Discussion

I qualified for PC, and I am 54K QFF short of qualifying for PC+, which is due in 5 months (the anniversary date is 30 September).

Is it worth it for me to push for PC+? I don't travel QF much at all. If I do travel, I will travel with my family (total of 4 people together). I have been picking up QFF points here and there via credit card and home/car insurance signup bonuses.
I'd say no, but being rather close maybe. Ha how's that for sitting on the fence.

I'm on PC+ currently, seldom fly QF so apart from the extra $50 voucher for vino & hotel, 10% off vino, don't get much out of it at all.

I only get to 350k points cos grab points where I can to get the family up up & away when we can.

Realistically, the main benefits of PC+ are

100 SC rollover (not 100 extra but rollover), free Qantas Club, more Wine and hotel vouchers, 10% off QF marketplace/Wine, additional points earning at those places and the odd extra deal (like the current points deal where PC get double but PCP gets triple).

You can ask yourself if those are worthwhile.

I wanted the extra 100 SC rollover and needed points for double OWA J booking last year so I requalified PCP, this year I may just get PC and call it a day.

Plus extra bonus points from Qantas Hotels.

Presumably partner + 2 kids?

If kids are under 18, you could take all 4 people into the Qantas Club (domestic) or Qantas Business Lounge (international) using the Points Club Plus QC benefit when flying QF or JQ (note different terminals in SYD/MEL on JQ though)

If you fly Qantas even a couple of times per year I would say this is probably worth going for. You'll get access for the reminder of this membership year + next year.

Yes (partner + 2 kids, aged 11 and 9).

I didn't know that the QC also allows for kids. I always thought that this was strictly +1 only. I will probably have a domestic trip towards the end of this year, and go overseas at end of this year and sometime next year, but no preference on QF.

I didn't think QC also works for JQ flights either. I thought it is for QF only.

Looks like I will be going for PC+ then.

Definitely one guest + 2 kids for Qantas owned/operated lounges.

From the link above:

Qantas Club members will continue to be able to access the Qantas Club lounges when their next onward flight on that day is on a Qantas or Jetstar flight number.

If you are considering flying JQ, do some research about the exact lounge arrangement at those ports.

In some terminals it's inconvenient and requires transferring terminals - e.g. SYD dom, MEL dom, PER, SIN
In some terminals it's impossible to reach the QC lounge from the terminal JQ operates from - e.g. NRT
At many airports JQ departs from the same terminal as the QC and access is easy - e.g. SYD int, MEL int, BNE, ADL, CNS, OOL, TSV, AKL, WLG

I'm a PC member til end Oct 24. As I already have enough wine at home and am currently in an alcohol abstinence state. :( , I have a $50 Qf Wine voucher that I wont use and am happy to swap for a $50 Qf hotel voucher as I have a bunch of hotel stays in October. Happy to swap vouchers if this is allowed.

Submitted my request for a carbon offset flight for the return leg of a PER - MEL - PER trip on the Anzac Day long weekend.

Compelted my four other green leaf tasks in the meantime.

Still no green flight credit.

My membership year expires 30th June.

Submitted a query via the online member services portal 10 days ago. Acknowledge but no action.

I'm off to the 13 number tomorrow to chase it up.

Fingers crossed this won't become a drama.

If your experience is anything like mine, it will be a hassle. But you're doing the right thing raising it before the flight.

I had no end of problems getting an offset leaf applied post flight. The offset was requested after the booking was created, which I believe is where the problem lies. The QFF team will say the offset needs to be applied at the time of booking which is utter rubbish.

I spoke to several different people without getting anywhere, they all claimed I'd requested the offset incorrectly, or that I had to do it at the time of booking and it wasn't possible to add an offset after a booking had been created.

I had to insist the call was escalated, and waited for a team leader to call me back a few days later. They said they had listened to the recordings, conceded the advice was incorrect, and agreed to credit the offset leaf retrospectively. This took 2-3 weeks.

When it eventually arrived, it was my 5th leaf. It seems 'manual leaves' don't kick off the reward prompt, so after waiting 21 days, I had to call twice to get this sorted. On the second call they asked for my reward preference which was the SC. The prompt never appeared, but the SC did about a week later.

Start to finish this took me close to 6 weeks.

Oh, that being the case I am going to be in a whole world of call centre pain!

I didn't just request the offset after the time of booking, I only requested it for the return leg of the booking, after I had taken the first leg*. Reason being, I was coming home on the Dreamliner, and that was the smallest offset of the flights I had from the three remaining flights in this status year I had to choose from.

*I have done this twice in the last two years without any problems.

However, I see this caveat is now buried in the T&C's:

^ In order to be recognised for the Green Tier activity, Qantas Frequent Flyer members must tick ‘Fly Carbon Neutral’ on eligible flights during the booking process or in My Account. Carbon offset will be recognised as a Green Tier activity seven days after purchase.

I'm only doing it for the SC's, and luckily, don't need these to requalify for Platinum, but I will be right snakey if they deny me these bonus SC's when I've already jumped thru the other four hoops...

If I had known they were going to make it an issue, I would have reapplied on one of my remaining flight pairs. I don't have any more this membership year, so will be pushing hard for justice.

I believe this is the post booking method of adding an offset, no?

That's certainly how I will be prosecuting my case.

I just checked - last year I used just 238 points to get carbon credits on the return leg of a PER - KTA - PER flight on the day my outbound flight landed in Karratha. So I'll have that RLN and details ready to quote them, as well as the ones from Anzac weekend...

FYI for Points Club members, I'm noticing reward flights now posting as 0 SC on the day of travel, but being automatically updated the next day to reflect the correct Points Club SC earned (at which time, the eligible sector also comes through). Had one yesterday and figured I'd have to contact Qantas to fix, so was pleased to see it take care of itself this afternoon. Had another 0 SC flight today, presume it'll sort itself out tomorrow too.

Could be temporary glitch?

I had one a week or so ago and posted as normal - well, actually same day - which was reasonably quick. They used to post next day (or day after that).

Didn't experience this on two award flights in X which posted in the last week. DSC posted the next day for outbound, haven't posted yet for return.

Round #1.

Call centre in Phillipines I suspect.

Explained the very basics - booked a flight, requested it be offset, flew 3 weeks ago, deduction - and green leaf - hasn't happened.

Operator asked for my RLN, then after a brief wait on hold, confirmed he could see a points deduction for carbon offset had been made... (I can't see that on my account)

Offered to chase it up and call back in 3-5 days.

So far, so good.

This one amused me.

Yesterday I received ~104,000 points as a lump (my latest credit card sign up bonus plus monthly spend). This left me about 200 points short of renewing my PC+. This morning, I received my 2,500 point milestone bonus for passing 250,000 points. This tipped me over into renewing PC+.

I reckon it must be pretty rare for the milestone bonus to bring the actual points that trigger qualification for PC+.

I reckon pretty rare for PC+ with no credit card bonus or business linked credit card

I thought it required 350000 points for PC+. Am I missing something?
