Qantas Points Club

Yes, 896SC for me this year in 4 return trips MEL-BNE-CNS (28x4x2). I'm firmly in the PC very worth it, PC+ not camp.

I agree the sweet spot is PC, but but if you're doing that trip quarterly, you'd need to be earning at least 332k points each year for the 896 SC.

If you're that close you may as well earn the remaining 15.5k points (PC+ target minus milestone bonus) needed for the PC+ 100 SC rollover!

I've just achieved PC for the first time (yeah, I'm not exactly a trend-setter ...) - not so much for this in itself, but to rapidly top up my QFF points balance with some bonus-points-heavy wine purchases.

So now ... looks around ...

* Milestone bonus at 250,000 points - not gunna happen (my credit card earns on Velocity not QFF)
* Lounge invitations - as WP, LTG not needed but I se they are gift-able. Impressed that the app recognises that I'm already WP & have lounge access anyway
* Bonus points for Qantas hotels - fair enough. Do I get this bonus if I booked prior to becoming PC ?
* SCs on CR flights. Not sure if I'll need them, but good stuff
* Hotel $ voucher - good; I do use QHotels occasionally
* Accor silver membership - hmmm (see my recent posts in ALL threads :) )
* Comp QWine membership & wine voucher. Good stuff
* Priority phone service. Yeah, right.
* One class upgrade on AVIS - I was excited, then saw that it only applies in Australia & NZ. An upgrade in my up-coming hire in Sth Africa would have been very welcome.

I get it, PC is meant mainly for non-flyers in which case the above benefits are pretty good. I'd say PC for me is nice to have, but benefits aren't enough to make me change my habits to stay in its ecosystem. And I have more than enough wine to keep me going ... 🍷

and that other 200k to get to PC+ is just a bridge too far for regular CC spend, hotels, wine etc.

Yep, and quite easy to transfer to friends and family (just check first that they’re not going to try and use one during school hols…)

I believe so.

This is the money shot for most of us! Knowing you can now burn points and still earn SCs to retain/attain status changes to spend $ -> SCs hamster wheel model.

Similar, CR bookings already in the system will earn SCs based on PC status at the time of actually flying.

Not so much “non-flyers” but not as frequent flyers as some of us, but big points earner on the ground none the less.

From what I’ve read here, the Venn diagram of PC/PC+ and WP/SG has a reasonable overlap - probably for the SCs.

So today I get the welcome email. Except it appears that I’ve been here before! 🤨. So where are my past vouchers? 😎

Probably expired if it was more than 12mths ago - unless you did actually use them not realising why you had them?

In the past, some vouchers arrived by email. Now they usually appear in your PC dashboard.

Sorry, I was being facetious. I haven’t been a member of points club before and yet the welcome email was a welcome back etc.

Are you sure? 😳

My first time was something like “Welcome to <fight club>”…

With my anniversary year July -June, thought I might be able to achieve PC this time around (good for SC's on CR mostly)

I easily managed this in November with bonus points from Red Energy, Qantas Wine and a new credit card - not churning just needing one with TI.

By March got the bonus when I hit 250k points as I had done a bit of necessary spending.

Then with a bit more $$ on J flights and other stuff (temporarily bailing the Flyfrequently offspring out with a few of their unexpected bills) all of a sudden I was close to 350k points and PC+ came into play and very close to those 100 SC's.

Without unnecessary expenditure, I came over the line into PC+ with recent hotel stays taken in June (accrual date) and posted yesterday🎉

I am now PC+ with those SC's showing 💯

Wouldn't actively pursue either PC or PC+ but happy to have made it with our regular spend.

I'm getting nervous - just a few days before the end of my membership year, but still needing 15k QFF to renew PC+ 🤨

Does anyone know how long the wait is for points after signing up for home insurance? I think that's the only big active transaction I'm waiting on, after I had to cancel setting up electricity due to some restrictive embedded power network thing in my new apartment.

Otherwise, I'll have to order some wine later in the week.

60 days. I'd buy some wine instead.

If I booked a reward flight, then got Points Club, then flew, should I get SCs for the flight?
My understanding of the rules is Yes.
Status Credits will only be earned on Flight Rewards if the flight is marketed or ticketed as ‘QF’, if the member is a Points Club or Points Club Plus member at the time of flying, and if the member’s Qantas Frequent Flyer number is added to the booking.

good for you Big John ! I have found PC+ worthwhile mainly for the Qantas club membership. The wine and hotel vouchers have also been useful.
