Hi all, I did a search of the forums but didn't find exactly the answer I am asking for. Apologies if this is already answered somewhere.

I called Qantas yesterday to add a connecting flight to a QR J award booking. The eticket numbers changed about 7 hours later and my credit card was charged, so I assume it's been ticketed? Would that be a correct assumption?

Qantas points have not been deducted from my account. I have been waiting to see what will be deducted as the number of points that the rep quoted me seemed to high and I wanted to question it with Qantas to make sure I wasn't "overcharged", but the points haven't been deducted yet. I assumed they would be deducted at ticketing which may have already occurred. Anyone have any experience with this?

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Qantas just didnt deduct them at all, I've had an experience before where I made a change to a booking and instead of charging my credit card extra, they refunded the entire fare hahahaha, so I know their systems are not perfect.

I recently changed class on a flight, took a good week for the points to come out.

They won’t forget, unfortunately.

I’ve been waiting almost a month for a refund of points after we changed a return award booking to a one way. Three follow ups and still being processed. Seems to be that there are too many people involved and it gets caught up along the way and no one has the ability to just get it done.

HAHA ok will keep checking and not be too disappointed if they deduct the points!

It was adding DOH to LHR to a SYD to DOH J reward flight. I used 104K pts per person for SYD to DOH and it's meant to be 139K points each total for SYD to LHR via DOH. The rep quoted me an extra 96K points for adding DOH to LHR for two people, but it should be 80K from my calculations? (139,000 - 104,000 + 5,000 (change fee) = 40,000 each). Hopefully they charge the right amount, when they do eventually charge it.

When I originally called to change class, and got an overseas call centre, I was quoted the wrong amount of points but the right amount of cash. I was ecstatic because it was 20k less points.

Unfortunately I got a call two days later from the Australian call centre explaining that it wasn’t the right amount, and checking I wanted to go through with it.

If they do take out the larger amount give them a call for clarification as to why it was more, but you may end up in the similar situation to me and get a call from a rep soon.

Hmmm good to know. I will definitely query if they take out too much, hopefully will be able to get through to someone who understands my issue. The overseas call centres can be a bit tricky to deal with.

So it's been 8 days and still no points deduction.

I guess I will just keep the points in my account so that if they do process them, the flight won't be cancelled :)
