I have booked a return flight on QF75/76 for my wife and in July 2018 in economy and requested a points upgrade to business on both legs. My wife has just attained Platinum status so we are both now Platinum. What are the chances of us getting the upgrade, either to Premium or business? We apparently can get advised 48 hours in advance of the flight, what are the chances

It's far too early to tell at this point.

You'll have a higher chance then others with Platinum status, but it depends on the load in the other cabins as the flight gets closer.

Your chances are probably OK with Platinum status, but as Himeno says it's too early to tell right now.

We'll have a much better idea of the likely outcome a few weeks before the flight. If you wish, you can post your flight details in this thread around then and someone can check for you: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

In practice you may hear up to about 60 hours out depending on the route and loads.

A solo Platinum flyer is higher in the upgrade pecking order than a couple.

Did you search for a J reward booking?

I got 2 seats in J YVR-SYD on 21Dec. Pretty amazed I could get J seats just before Christmas. Even got seats on the upper deck. That was a full J reward, not upgrade.

It is way to early to tell as it is mid next year.
