If you’re looking for a good credit card that earns Qantas Points, Qantas Premier Platinum is a solid option. You’ll earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 on Domestic Spend (excluding government payments), up to $10,000 per statement period. Plus, you’ll earn 1 additional Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible Qantas products and services and 1.5 points per dollar overseas.

The card includes two complimentary Qantas airport lounge invitations per year. Other travel benefits include complimentary insurance, companion fare discounts and a dedicated concierge service.

Plus, new cardholders can earn up to 80,000 bonus Qantas Points and pay a reduced $349 annual fee in the first year. The bonus points are not available if you've held a Qantas Premier credit card within the last 12 months. Refer to the full T&C’s for more information:

For what it's worth, this Qantas Premier card is unable to be used with some merchants because it is somehow not recognised as a local card ( I can't fathom why this so ) Qantas cards response is as per below

"We aware of the issue you have have reported and have escalated to Citibank, the card issuer. It appears as Citibank is a global bank, the "Bank Issued Number" of this card is associated with an overseas bank ...”

)

When I held this card I was informed by a financial institution that some of the digits indicated that it was issued in Singapore which caused no end of problems.

The 40k one has no 1st year annual fee and a spend of just 2k for each of the first 2 months.

$4000 spend for 40,000 points isn't great. Hopefully Qantas updates there deals on these cards past August.

Just cancel my virgin money credit card. May I get the bonus points from Qantas money credit card as they are the same credit cards issued by CITI bank?

It seems that this card does not have an exclusion period. As long as one does not hold another QF Premier card, it seems fine. I wonder if anyone in here has got the sign-up bonus without serving the 12 months exclusion period please?

Sure can!
Rejected by Qantus (Citi) and HSBC immediately after I submitted my application online. Not sure what goes wrong. Check my credit history and report indicated good and high scores. Applied twice credit cards in the past 6 months and a car loan (25K).

Happened to me as well. I had the virgin card last year, applied for the Qantas one and was rejected without a credit check. Applied again when the 3 month exclusion period was up. Rejected, no credit check again. No debt except for the other card I was holding and cover all requirements. Seems I'm in the citi bin.

I was in the same position. Citi did not check my credit history, but HSBC did. I assume they knew my spending which is high as I always use my card to buy something that my roommates want and they pay me in cash.

I can't speak to your situation, but I held the Virgin Money card (& ironically the HSBC card) when I received the Qantas Card last year. And, to compare data points it was my 7th card of the year.

A month after applying for the Qantas card I applied for the Virgin High flyer card (which was trickier, but eventually approved).

Did you apply for two cards at once? Sounds risky...

Yes, I applied for 2 cards at once. I learned from this lesson.

I rang yesterday - they reckon there is a 6 month exclusion - although cant see it anywhere

It looks like Qantas have now reduced the offer to 60,000 pts.

Does anyone have a current link that still shows 80,000 pts?

I called to cancel my premier card (intending to apply for the everyday) & they said this to me too... apparently it’s not that you’re ineligible for the bonus points, it’s that you’re ineligible to be approved for another card for 6 months?!

Am undecided as to whether I’ll try my luck or find another card, I’m sitting out too many exclusion periods right now!
