Qantas priority boarding - crippled by Communists?

The auto gates in EU work well. You scan your own BP and it opens if your class of service or status is boarding. If not, red light and stand aside.
Would this mean if a couple or family tried boarding but only one had status, the other(s) would be denied?

Qantas need to start sending people to the correct queue. They do that in HK, actually I think they delight in doing that.
Interestingly, at MAD recently, the EK three boarding lanes are now F&J, Priority, economy. Status wankers board AFTER the F and J passengers.

And with Italian flights, there’s never anyone in the “normal” economy lane. Everyone goes to the PB line,:)

3 lanes makes sense when only F and J go to the upper deck (if the flight you refer to was an A380).

Quite possibly. LH tried this on me in FRA. Was boarding for Y with my partner, I was Star Gold. I was scanned and then told "you can go, he can wait". I said "ok no problem, I'll wait as well, just quickly change my status to "not on board". We were both let on with a German sigh of disapproval. I can't imagine it would work well with a self boarding machine.

PB and QF is my biggest hate... I can see this being unpopular, but get rid of the SG and MAKE PB GREAT AGAIN!!

Boarding my MEL-BNE flight last week... can you guess which line is for which?

Yes its hard to imagine that all those people are PB's it is a situation I think we all see to often and appears nothing is done about it. Thanks QF

Yes. Of course. I’d forgotten until your post. We had this several times last month.

HNL does it well; families with kids under 5, then J, then WP, then SG, then the rest.

Slightly off topic: Used these auto gates at CDG a few times when boarding BE - just standard boarding as BE does not "do" J - great, except then 10mtrs further on as entering the aerobridge everyone was stopped to have their Passport double-checked against their BP. Sort-of defeated the object of the exercise!

BD

This is from a quote: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.

Let me fix that quote for you.

"The only thing necessary for an airline representative to deny you boarding is to claim you're uncooperative or a security risk"

In Singapore its the complete opposite. Was boarding the QF1 the other day and they did boarding in the most backward way that I have ever seen. They did a few preboards (those who asked beforehand, eg with children) then first class only boarding (Not even OW Em/WP/P1) then more families then finally Business and Premium Economy. The Economy queue was also in front of the auto gates but they were switched off (So that queue was never used).

It was complete chaos, and someone behind me commented about what was the point of status when you don't actually get to board early
QF36 in SIN the other day they did families first then status pax. They were rejecting non status pax who tried it on, then boarding by rows from the back. I got in to a near empty plane.

Actually, they did the same for QF2 in London as well.

QF9 on the way out had a long priority queue and no one in the normal queue, so I took the normal queue and got straight on.

Any reply at all, Juddles?

Yes, but no. The P1 team thanked me for my email and said they would pass it on........

I bet the next F amenities kit I get that there will be no further replies.

They’ll probably remove the razor from the amenity kit.:)

Leaving from Perh is the same. The Priority lane is just as full as the other Lane. Staff just don’t care! At first I used to think that it was because they started to include gold status in that lane. But now I have since realised they don’t care! Nor is it policed. They just want to get everyone in the plane and shut the doors.

I dont mind a bit of BS so I would have stepped over, looked at his name badge and said "Good,my boss AJ will be very interested in this incident."
Might have given the lad a few nervous moments and think twice before doing it again.
The best persons' name to mention (if you knew them) would be to have the Brisbane Customer Experience Manager - or even the Regional Manager. If you would like their names, email address, phone numbers, etc @juddles for use now or in the future, PM me.

Personally, I'd be forwarding your email to both of them now. That's deplorable behaviour by the QF lad.

I'd also be interested to hear from @ozbeachbabe

Whilst not priority boarding I had an interesting experience at the Qantas International to Domestic transfer area at Sydney on Saturday morning.

I entered the business class queue which was empty, but the two open desks already serving a passenger each, who it turns out must of had 'complex' check-in issues that took some time, my two colleagues entered the non business queue with one passenger waiting, one desk open and one passenger being served.

Suffice to say both my colleagues got served and were on their way before I even got to a desk. And oddly enough they opened another non priority desk whilst I was waiting, and by the time I had been finished with there were 10 passengers in the priority lane and 1 in the non priority lane.

My experience with Qantas elsewhere is when the priority lane gets long like that the non priority desks will call for priority passengers first, but not this day. Anyway not a big deal seeing it was 5:45 in the morning and first bus was 6, but just a bit odd that the extra desk that opened didn't call priority passengers first.

When there has been no attempt at a PB line (ie no signs) and I have for some reason wanted to get on board I have approached from the side and been called forward by the staff scanning BP's and processed. Sorry - I thought it was the convention when there were no signs up.
