Qantas reintroduces entertainment

Entertainment will definitely be available on all trans-Tasman flights.
This may actually annoy some people as they'll go back to the Sky interior or AVOD equipt 737's across the tasman and you'll see less of them domestically.

Right now, I'm happy that I can travel at least domestically on a plane. I always bring my own entertainment and if it's a short domestic flight I don't have time to watch a whole movie anyway which means that the in flight entertainment is of less value than it would be for say a longer flight

Possibly, although wi-fi is available on domestic 737 flights. One of the reasons Qantas is prioritising NZ flights for aircraft with AVOD is that there's no wi-fi available across the Tasman.

On very few aircraft that is. At least that was the case before COVID- maybe about a third of times on the 787 that plane was indeed equipped with it.

All the 320neo & 321neo have it. This is most of the aircraft being used trans-Tasman

That's the cattle class only aircraft which I wouldn't touch by a mile. If you're talking about competitiveness with Qantas, then you have to compare apples with apples and most real 2-class aircraft that Air NZ is using do NOT have Wifi, hence completely irrelevant.

To/from Auckland you might end up on a 787 and I think just one or maybe two are fitted with wifi. There are also a lot of A320ceos (the original ones) in the schedule especially on routes like OOL, MCY, HBA, CNS etc.

Well, unless you want to fly in cattle class, this whole comparison is a bit mute. I'd always chose Qantas because I then can have a decent experience in Business class- even on the 737 lightyears better than those awful one classed AirNz planes.

And I know what I am talking about: I had to endure this terror for the past year as there wasn't a choice here domestically. Jetstar and AirNZ are pretty much equal in my opinion- both awful seats, grumpy flight attendants and the aircraft full of riff raff. If I compare it to Europe, maybe not quite Ryanair but no better than let's say Easyjet or Germanwings.

So Wifi or not is really not part of my consideration if it's a one class budget config.

There was no sign of any IFE on my QantasLink 717 flight yesterday. Does anyone know if the Q-streaming entertainment will be returned on these flights?

No headphones on the A333 SYD-PER on 8/4.
Headphones on the 738 PER-MEL very early today. But the same plane continued on to BNE and they had removed the headphones. No one used them on the red eye.Go figure.

Headphones should've been available at the boarding gate?

My experience this week.

Headphones available at boarding gate in SYD, not at BNE and CNS. Headphones at seat in business class for both trans-Tasman flights.

IFE switched on for both trans-Tasman flights and 1 A330 flight, switched off for domestic 738 flights.

Wifi on for all domestic flights (A330 and 738).
