Qantas releases new 2-for-1 Business Class Sale Fares - Luxury Experience for Two

It seems that these fares do not qualify for upgrade requests (even though the booking engine says that they are "business saver" and when you click on the description link the pop-up page says that it is eligible to be upgraded).

Try calling Qantas and manually requesting the upgrade.

I have a similar booking from a 2-for-1 in J that was booked in the first such sale last November. The online engine didn't allow for upgrades to be requested (got the standard error page), but when Qantas was called they said "it was a bug" and they manually put the upgrade in place. (Of course, whether we will get the upgrade or not is a whole different ball game!)

What makes you believe they are not eligible for FF upgrades? As far as I know, U are the only business class fares that are not eligible for upgrade requests (assuming its an aircraft with an F cabin of course). Depending on how the booking is made, you may need to telephone Qantas and ask to be added to the upgrade waitlist.

Qantas have extended this offer date until Monday 13th to give you more to think about over Easter.

Because when I try to put in an upgrade request, I get an error message :-)

"Upgrade - not available
An upgrade is not available on this itinerary due to one or more of the following reasons" (followed by a generic list of possible reasons).

I booked online. I'll give QFF a call and see how that goes.

EDIT: Spoke to QFF - probably to the least enthusiastic person I've ever spoken to. Took a little while (about 15 minutes) to confirm that these fares are eligible for upgrade requests, and it seems that the request is in (QF website shows "upgrade to business requested" which I assume is the regular bug where is shows the wrong COS). Thanks anat01 and NM.

I've never flown A380 F ex-SYD - fingers crossed the upgrade comes through :-)

That tends to be a common message for some methods of booking. Similar for the old paper tickets or some flights booked through some travel agents.

Yes, the "Upgrade to {already-booked-cabin} requested" is usual.
