Qantas removes bottled drinking water for business/premium economy

The end game is to provide adequate hydration in the most efficient manner available. Everything else is superfluous, no?

We had better hope that the "enhancement" or "green" initiative is limited to water!

There are many other fluids, where a similar "green" rational could apply.

For virtually all of them, in fact...

Why focus on water bottles? What about the tens of thousands of plastic packaged 'snacks' - 3 biscuits and a bit of dip that are served in multiple layers of plastic packaging? Or the tens of thousands of serves of cereal in plastic packets accompanied by plastic milk bottles? Or juices. Or cans of soft drink. Or plastic drinking cups. All of those could be replaced by more environmentally friendly packaging or serving containers. But it doesn't serve the airline to change those from a financial position.

let's pick on water, which we know can get contaminated either before delivery or while sitting in tanks in planes.

The great thing about bottled water is that when you're on holidays you don't need to worry about that pesky sand getting into everything, you can just visit a beach covered in plastic water bottles. Get that nice air cushion feel to as you lay your towel down on it and lie on the beach. There are many such beaches in the Gulf of Thailand (eg Phu Quoc, Vietnam) - you just need to go there at the right time of the year when the current is going in the right direction.

I guess the issue of producing plastic whether it is new or recycled is taxing on the environment and resources to make them .Maybe canned water.Sparkling water in cans?Plus they can be flattened to save space and recycled.
