Over the last couple of months I've done two Qantas long haul journeys, one across the Pacific and one to Singapore. While there are many aspects of the journey that are widely discussed in this forum I thought I'd mention a couple of things that stand out to me.

Pre-flight Safety Video.
I like the style of the pre-flight safety video which uses front lie employees from across the company to deliver the message. I always find it interesting the following scenes which must be confusing for some people:

Storing items in the overhead lockers. In this section they show a staff member storing and securing items away into a galley compartment implying this could be the place to store items.

Leaving baggage behind in the event of an evacuation. In this section the baggage handler is presenting the information and as soon as he reminds people that in the event of an evacuation to leave cabin items behind, he continues picking up baggage.

Both of these sections to me could be better subtly improved in context, or perhaps I'm being overly pedantic.

Mid-flight pizza.
On the flight to LAX, the leg from DFW and the flight to SIN we Y pax were all served the boxed pizza solution. I find these an incredibly tasty snack, in a hangover cure sort of admiration. I'm always amazed at what can be sealed into cardboard, heated and served without opening.

I did struggle the first time with working out how to open the box. On subsequent flights I've noticed that most first time pizza eaters also seem to struggle.

In case anyone hasn't tried one, I've tried to capture the essence in the photos at the end of this post.

Qantas Singapore Lounge

Last night I had my first visit to the Qantas lounge in Change T1. Wow, what an excellent experience. Last time I was in the Singapore lounge 5 or 6 years ago, it was very crowded, average food and I think there was a queue for the showers.

Well the new lounge is all class. In the 30 minutes that I had available for the visit I managed to devour the seared barramundi, quaffed some Chardonnay, enjoyed the creme brulee, be treated ever so politely by all staff (all of whom were polite and personable) and have a good shower. Even the towel sets were impressive.

The flight home was fast and arrived into BNE about 15 minutes early, a nice touch.

Never seen the 'pizza' thing. Sorry, it looks pretty awful. What happens when there is a mass box opening? Does the cabin then smell of pizza steam (ugh) ?

Those pizzas are great actually, a nice meal and would like to have them at home for "emergencies"

I'm a fan of mini-pizza or mini-wrap things. Great mid-flight snack, easy for the crew to heat and very easy to eat for pax.

Some may prefer a higher class of food, but for them there is a higher class of cabin, or if they can't afford it then make do with what you're given.

I had the pizza thing earliy last month and while it's not a bad thing - it appeared mine had been reheated 'upside down' and most of the 'cheesy' stuff stuck to the box; sort of gluing it shut around the perforation.

I had certainly noticed the galley stowage incongruency ... not so much the baggage though ...

Yep the pizzas are made in Surrey UK, exported to the world. IMHO nothing special really.

That looks pretty gross....I'd go with the water and crunchie.

is this the only meal served to Y passengers to/from SIN?!

The latest serving was on the day flight from BNE-SIN.

Departs ~10:30am followed by Lunch Serving. Refreshment (the pizza) 90 minutes before arrival

On the return SIN-BNE there was an evening meal service after departure at 8:55pm, then sleeping then at 90 minutes before arrival morning refreshment of yoghurt, scroll and coffee.
