Well I suppose you could go there on Air Asia for about $400 and come back and forth on the QF return special as much as you like! Not my cup of tea though...

Incidentally, the Y+ fares for the 499 GBP routes looked to be 999 GBP which is also a fairly good deal.

I bought one of these a couple weeks back. Had to pay at QF in Sydney as I was using compensation vouchers as part payment, so they had to convert to AUD at their rate. Came out at $1009.90, all up :D

After applying the comp vouchers of 2 x $500 (for IFE breaking down halfway thru SYD-JNB in J for 2 passengers last year), my total payable was $9.90. I have kept the receipt :D ..... My parking in the city to present the vouchers cost more than that.

I had the cash on me, so didn't have to pay the credit card fee, which would also have been more than the $9.90

I flew the first leg BA metal on QF codeshare. BA were nice enough to preallocate me the exit row up front. And AA were nice enough to give me 10000 or so aadvantage miles (50% plus the EXP bonus). Thank you QF, BA & AA.

(Have banked the return flight for when I need to return to pick up my DONE4)

Well actually, get a return to KL on Air Asia ... then $650 return on EK to europe, with the QF fare to Aus nested in the middle and could probably get two return flights to Europe for about $2K AUD.
