Some excellent fares. Sadly, it seems someone at Qantas forgot to actually load the fares into the system. I've tried SIN, BOM, NRT and HKG over the (WA) long weekend in early June and only get the usual prices circa $1k and above, even when searching flexible dates.

There are more eg. NZ & Manila. I've mostly been looking at eastern states, they appear to be in the system. Definitely some excellent prices here, not sure for any SC value. Waiting to see if anyone finds some gems in it. Flying out of CBR seems to produce slightly cheaper prices than mentioned, and less than going direct from MEL or SYD which is always nice. Otherwise finally some sub $1000 fares to the US again :)

I just spotted these SYD/MEL/BNE-LAX AUD999 deals and thought someone was pulling my leg. Just ran them through the QF engine, and sure enough they're there.

And on the SC's, they're huge. 90SC return Ex-SYD, and obv. higher if you take a routing via AKL or something just as insane Ex-PER where I'd be coming from. Nice little earner IMHO.

While I'm spitballing and don't have the cash to do this due to other plans - finding it difficult to depart from PER and score a route that'll give me A330's down under, and A380's to LAX. Keep getting ugly JQ jetsaver fares coming up on the leg out of or returning to PER which is worth ~20SC and ~2.2k in points which I'd rather not miss out on.

Good for anyone who's looking to go, just a bit of fiddling to get maximum value for the QFF a/c.

I have a credit with Qantas that I need to book into something. A dummy booking from the Qantas homepage will get me a $999 fare to LA on this sale but when I go in via my voucher the cheapest it offers is $2430.

I'm thinking it's not showing me the cheap fare for my voucher because the voucher is worth about $1300. Might have to book it over the phone. Or start my journey in Canberra which is slightly closer to home......

Nope, Canberra - LA is $2606 if I try to redeem the vocuher. Phone booking it will be.

There are also some very good deals on the Singapore site, traveling to Australia; S$593 to Perth return, and S$792 to Sydney

Yes, they only show fares that are the same or greater than voucher value.

Just flew 2 adults to Nashville Tn for under $1400 each and the same fares are still available .Of course conditions apply but WTH how cheap is that . I am 6ft and the flights/seats were fine (aprt from Fatties in the seats in front that insist on throwing their seat back at 100kmph and the Pigs of the sky who take 4 weeks supply of luggage as carry on and take up available overhead space)
Time for airlines to get serious about carry on luggage.
Check it and charge for excess size and weight and stow elsewhere than in overhead lockers

JohnCarrWestwood,

Welcome to AFF.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. I don't disagree about the carry-on or the seat recliners either.

Thanks.
There needs to be a collective and pointed complaint to all airlines.

Maybe charge on the basis of total baggage weight plus an excess charge for carry baggage weight over 5kg.

What the heck does anyone need on a 15 hour flight? Tissues meds toothbrush moisturiser and a book ? Camera ? Laptop neither essential. Duty free. Id debate that as being essential but heck its Xmas sooner or later

The other thing you have to remember is that many people (and there is a thread here somewhere) travel with hand luggage only. Unfortunately some do not quite understand what that really should entail.

Whilst the camera and/or laptop may not be essential on the flight they usually are at the destination. Until the airlines can absolutely guarantee safe passage of said items in check in luggage I will take my laptop and camera(s) in my cabin baggage.

Of course it helps that I get everything into a small roll aboard suitcase.

Just booked some airline tickets to the US. $1500 for CBR-JFK return in August. Very pleased with the price. Admittedly, for some dates in June it is $1350 for the same route but as I have a specific day on which I want to leave in August I was happy to book now.

Shame that the good economy seats on the A380 for MEL-LAX have already been taken! Nevertheless, great time for a sale Qantas :D

MEL - LAX $999 return

booked MEL/SIN for Sept yet?

;)

Mr!

if this sale occurred in January for April flights, I would have flown them to Tokyo. Oh well missed opportunities.

as long as it fits the box I dont have a problem. The BOX IS SMALL

"The other thing you have to remember is that many people (and there is a thread here somewhere) travel with hand luggage only. Unfortunately some do not quite understand what that really should entail. "

Then they flout the system for which everyone else pays if their luggage doesn't fit the box

I wish I had had a camera at the ready when I was in NAshville BNA . Guy 5ft tall with a trolley almost as big as him as hand luggage and a 6ft, 300 lbs guy with hand luggage trolley the size of a 12 pack of toilet rolls. Go figger

CARRY ON means that not roll on .
ferchrissakes.Pay per kilo I reckon.
The reason I am so strident about this

We , My family of 4 2 adults 1 dtr aged 20 1 son age 17 flew around the globe in 7 weeks with 3 cases and 4 small carry ons. if we can do it ........ Did we save the environment by reducing our load? NOPE cos some pigs used up the savings we made

And Im not a greenie. Just seems to make sense to travel light and keep the fuel costs and thus the Fares down

Just a quick question... I'm looking to book some tickets on the sale fares, however notice that the sale ends tomorrow (for the destination(s) I'm looking at). Does that mean that I can book tomorrow, or that I have to book before tomorrow?

Thanks all,
W

I've flown around the globe over an 8 day period with just 7kg carryon - no checked luggage.
