Qantas - Searching for Business class seats - Error

I am having trouble when searching for reward seats. Every time I do search, for example, Taipei to Vancouver, an error message comes up, and the page defaults back to Sydney to Vancouver, which I did not search for. I know there are seats available, as I did a search on seats.aero.

Thoughts?

I suspect Qantas doesn't support payments in Taiwan dollars.

Try a multi-city search and dummy booking like SYD-MEL + TPE-YVR. If this works then there is genuine availability on the TPE-YVR leg. If this doesn't work then the availability shown in seats.aero is phantom.

Search using the multi-city tool (it'll work even for a single segment), although mine worked fine searching from both tbh so there could be some browser issues with the main QF engine.

TWD is supported by Qantas now, which is good. So you should be okay to just search TPE-YVR.

What browser are you using? The Qantas booking website can be touchy - some browsers it works sometimes but not others.

I can successfully bring up a result screen showing availability (9 July 2025) using Microsoft Edge. Not about to try going any further.

Thanks, I will try the multi city tool.

I have used the multi city tool and no errors have appeared. I have found seats on JAL - Narita to Seattle, but the fees are $900. Why so expensive? Can I cancel a rewards booking and get my points refunded?

Nah, this seems to be the default behaviour for Sydney Airways. I had it doing similar changing the point of departure from MEL to SYD on quite a few bookings recently when I was hunting around and went back in the browser.

You can cancel and award for a full refund of $, you’ll lose 6000 points cancellation fee, per person, per booking.

I think JAL have recently (relatively recently) whacked a "bit" of a fuel surcharge on award bookings that originate in Japan which will be the majority of the $$$

I too am having this problem, have been watching daily ATH - DXB - KUL - PER business rewards for the last fortnight via multicity as need to book for 1 Sept 2025 (which should have been available to book fully next Thursday 5th Sept) however since yesterday Emirates flights EK904 AMM-DXB and EK346 DXB-KUL have now all vanished from the QFF website, including all those that were all available in the last 2 weeks. Any reason why Emirates would remove those flights from QF? Any chance they will be back by next Thursday?
