I have marked 4A and 4B for my Qantas 737 domestic flight from MEL-SYD, and completed online check in. However, Qantas mobile app is now showing the seats have been changed to 5E and 5F (though Qantas website and seatmap are still showing 4A and 4B). Called Qantas and was told they could see us sitting in 4A and 4B, not 5E and 5F? Anyone faced similar situation before? Is this a technical issue, or is someone from Qantas moving our seats?

If the boarding pass shows 5EF, then those are the seats, then the seats may have been changed. Could possibly be broken seats, or even likely a service dog, or someone stuffing up and accidently moving you. Speak to the airport service desk, not reservations.

It's happened to me a couple of times where as a lowly Gold, I've nabbed row 4 (or equivalent) at T-80 but then been moved prior to travel. I've always assumed it was because a CL or some other more "important" person wanted 4A. I've never seen a service dog with said VIP as I shuffled further down the back. Just gotta shrug and sit where one is told at the end of the day.

My wife & I are travelling on Qantas & I just tried to alter the allocated seats. My wife is a Gold Frequent Flyer & I am Bronze. I selected seats that had no charges associated with them and when I got to the last flight I was charged for the seats but my wife wasn't. Virgin Australia always let travellers on the same booking select the same seats (sometimes 'preferred') as the highest status traveller, for no charge. Does Qantas realise this? So to sit next to my wife I have to pay the preferred seating charges. Am I being unreasonable?
