Qantas Service = Absolutely Disgusting

Please for my benefit (and others I would guess) "quote" the parts of the conversation you found offensive?

What I find troubling is the call made from the Qantas Manager to the lounge. Unprofessional IMHO.

It all seems quite reasonable to me what Qantas did. They have rules. Under 18 year olds can't be in Qantas club by themselves.

Also the natural assumption is that if someone does not match the details they have on record that a crime may have been committed. For instance someone could have stolen a boarding pass/FF card or a ticket has been purchased in someone elses name. The Qantas club manager took the appropriate action to get the police involved to make sure there wasn't a crime being committed.

I had a few more drinks

I very strongly suggest for you to make no more comments about this. If you are very lucky it will then die a natural death. I do suggest QF will rightly cancel your partner card as you are not 18 or over. DJ should do likewise. QF are probably working to modify the partner terms and conditions to include a min age of 18.

Bottom line is QF were correct and DJ were not. Please read the terms and conditions for entry into a QF or DJ Lounge. As you are 16, you can not be there without an adult to supervise you. Neither Lounge should give you access by yourself. That may upset you but those are the rules for Lounge access and to hold a Lounge access card.

As pointed out above, rule 10.10 provides that access to the lounge by someone less than 18 requires them to be accompanied by an adult.

Fine, but where can I access that based on the following: Fly - Travel Classes - Domestic Business There are no riders there based on age.

Nor can I find it on the lounge access page: Access to The Qantas Club lounges

I agree that 10.10 is clear:
10.10 Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult when visiting any lounge.

Just that QF don't have all their documentation correct.

Assuming the OP didn't know about the rules, would've made more sense to explain he wasn't allowed in the lounge instead of accusing him of stealing the card.

May they should have all the members photo on the computer system like they do at gyms so when people swipe thru, the dragons can check if it's the same person

If the details on the computer say 26, then they could have every right to accuse said person of stealing the card.

Don't agree. He was alerting the DJ Lounge manger (giving them a heads up) that an under 18 had tried to get access to the QP by using a QF Card that he should not have and when that failed, had said he was next going to the DJ Lounge to get access with his DJ Card.

The QF Lounge manager did the right thing.

Actually I think the QF manager did the right thing here. They had a reasonable suspicion that an underage person was trying to inappropriately enter licensed premises. Therefore they gave DJ a heads up that the person was headed their way.

This type of cooperation is very common amongst competitors. The DJ staff have, by their actions ensured that QF wont be so quick as to help them in the future.

I still think that Josh will live to regret this thread and will be looking in from the outside until his 18th birthday unless accompanied by an adult.

I also reckon the liquor licensing authorities would be very interested in following this up. There is a possibility that DJ could have a visit and 'please explain' from them come the new week.

The DJ staff who let him listen in on the call were very unprofessional and should IMHO be disciplined. While it was their call (incorrect according to their T&C) to let him enter alone, and then stay when they clearly knew he was underage, they should not have burnt the relationship with the QF manager who gave them a heads up.

I will be very interested to see and hear what happens when the relevant company reps read this thread.

Forget airline cards, Medicare should have this so backpackers should stop getting free hospital treatment!

These are the rules in Victoria:

He is legally aloud to be in either premises, I checked this with a call to the liquor licensing dept. No one did anything illegal, please know what you are talking about before you make such grand statements in regards to somethings legality.

"Minors are allowed to remain on the premises of a business that holds a restaurant and cafe liquor licence and on-premises liquor licence with restaurant conditions. This is between the hours of:
  • 7am and 11pm Monday to Saturday
  • 10am and 11pm Sundays
  • 12 noon to 11pm on Good Friday and ANZAC Day.
After this time, you cannot allow a person under 18 years of age onto the licensed premises unless you have underage approval from the Director of Liquor Licensing, or the young person is:
  • with a responsible adult
  • having a meal
  • employed by you but not involved in the supply of alcohol
  • completing a training program in hospitality."

(If the transcript is correct) that is not what happened. The QF manager calls and makes statements that are inflammatory and incorrect. Not going to quote them, (respect the right of someone to delete their post in a case like this), but they should be clear to see.

Maybe but the QF Lounge manager did the right call. A under 18 can't enter the lounge alone, nor should a under 18 have a QF Lounge card, prime or partner. If the DOB says the Partner QF Card holder is 26, then yes a crime may have been committed and the QF Lounge manager, in calling the AFP, did the right call to sort out if this person was who he claimed to be.

I suspect very shortly both the QF and DJ Lounge cards will be cancelled.

Honestly, there are some people that would defend qantas on here even if they started a campaign to kill kittens...

The QF Lounge manager did the right thing.

It also seems that the QCM had the view that the card was "stolen", because the QCM didn't know/realise that the age displayed was that of the main cardholder and not the partner. I don't know if this is a fault of the QC system, or a fault of whoever signed up the original poster. If it's the fault of the QC system, then it seems that the QCM needs to read up on how QC memberships work, rather than falsely accusing someone of stealing/purloining a QC card.

Just going OT here, but WTF was a 16 YO doing a SC run for spending days in MEL, and doing god knows what.:shock:
I am starting to get the feeling that there is far more to this than is being let on, and perhaps it should have remained deleted. Regardless, both VA and QF now know ALL ABOUT IT, and dare I say you will be in the **** now. Where were the parents, and what do they think about all this. Im sorry, but I really am still in shock that a 16YO can Piss off doing Business class staus runs, 1. WHY, 2. Where did he get the $$$ 3. Where were his parents. Flame away, I couldnt give a cough, but I really am amazed by this. and feel if anyone needs a finger pointed at hem, it is the 16 YO, and his parents, for letting him loose on a flight with no purpose, other than ego boosting, when 1. there was warnings of potential disruptions due to ash cloud, 2. He obviously did not understand the terms of access to a lounge, 3. ....... ahh forget it, safety gear on, Flame thrower ignited

Time to close this thread and end the discussion. The original poster has chosen to remove the content of his post.
