QF has started installing 23 pairs of split scimitar winglets on their B737s. I think that they look great. Apparently it takes more than 500 man hours to install each one.

Trans-cons and international. On what route would this be a significant addition - the transcontinental ?BNE-PER.
I doubt most pax would even notice the difference.Staff have been briefed to reassure passengers that no they are not MAX aircraft!

I really hope this is a joke.Staff have been briefed to reassure passengers that no they are not MAX aircraft!
"This is an outrage! The only reason they are doing this is because of woke ideology trying to "save fuel"! Don't change our tips! Tips should never change they are our history and tradition. Go woke go broke!"
I'd say around 20% of the comments were also something along the lines of "I don't fly Qantas anymore", which I find amusing in one of two ways. Firstly the comments are likely made by people who don't fly full stop or probably fly Jetstar thinking they're avoiding QF."You can do whatever you like with the 737s. That one aircraft I won't ever set a foot on."
Well I'm sure the engineers and the ops team recommended it years ago, but AJ pretty much deferred all the capex QF needed so that he could use the cash to return to shareholders --> beefs up the share price --> juices up his KPI's ---> bigger bonus.Wonder why they decided to go for them now. Other airlines including VA have had them for years
I guess you could go so far as to agree with your prediction!! They di look rather incredible! This modification is unlike those on Virgin B737-800's! The "split scimitar winglets" appear to matching in length?I dare say some will go so far as to say it looks incredible
I really hope this is a joke.
Also some of the comments on that news article are comical (every single one gave me a good laugh):

Why? I'd be doing the same given the reputation of the Max, and the fact that QF doesn't have any.I really hope this is a joke.
Well, take it for what it's worth, but they're certainly avoiding the good bits...Firstly the comments are likely made by people who don't fly full stop or probably fly Jetstar thinking they're avoiding QF.
It was also recommended that they go on to the 767s (back in the GoDs), but nyet to that too. And it was the first thing that happened when they were sold off to Canada.Well I'm sure the engineers and the ops team recommended it years ago, but AJ pretty much deferred all the capex QF needed so that he could use the cash to return to shareholders --> beefs up the share price --> juices up his KPI's ---> bigger bonus.
QF has got a mountain of capex to fund with the A350's and 737A330 replacements coming in the next 5-10 years. Not that it's AJ's problem anymore.
