Hi Guys,

see answer below. Interesting reading.

Dear xx_x,

Thank you for your email dated 20 July 2007, in regards to your Platinum membership.

As you are aware, in order to maintain your Platinum membership in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, a total of 1,200 Status Credits are required to be earned, as well as flying on 4 eligible Qantas flights within your membership year.

As you approach the end of your membership year, we conduct a review to determine the possibility of retaining your Platinum status in the event you do not earn the required amount of Status Credits. This review allows us to ensure our most loyal members receive their membership card valid for their next membership year in time for any upcoming travel.

While reviewing your membership, we avoid taking into consideration travel which has not yet been taken. This allows for any changes or cancellations you may need to make to your bookings at a future date.

I have credited your membership with points and Status Credits as per your paid booking on British Airways flight xx_ from London to Barcelona. This is now viewable on your online Activity Statement.

Mr xx_x, I understand how receipt of this offer may be disappointing due to your circumstances. However we did make this offer as a gesture of goodwill due to your loyalty to Qantas, and never intended to offend you.

Yours sincerely

Hmm.... reads to me that you may be unlikely to get such a letter again given the "Mr xx_x, I understand how receipt of this offer may be disappointing due to your circumstances. If you were expecting demotion that I would suggest waiting a cpl of days to see whether the status level drops to Gold

Has my dad been comped GOLD for the next year?

Status: GOLD
SC expiry Nov 2007
SC earned 350
More than 4 QF segments flown
Status reassessment date Nov 2008

From memory, the status reassessment date was Nov 2007.

There was no please explain letter or email from QFF. I just noticed that the year changed from 2007 to 2008.

I'd be concerned that the SC earned amount is showing 350 still. So I wouldn't be counting on it yet.

I wouldn't have thought that counter would be reset to the end of the month anyway.

I would say that he has been comped to Gold based on the re-assessment date changing. It appears that the decision to comp someone automatically happens around 2 months before end of membership year. The SC earned amount would not be reset until end of November as it still possible to earn SCs this membership year.
