Hello all,

I recently booked a Jetstar business ticket from SYD to HKG on Jetstar's mobile app. During the purchase, it showed that I will get 240 status credits (it still does on their app til today), however, after the flight I only received 180 status credit from Qantas. Upon checking with Jetstar, they say that the information on their mobile app is subject to change and may not be 100% accurate, their website reflects the correct status credits which is 180.

What should I do now? Make a complaint to fair trading or just keep harassing the customer service team at Jetstar/Qantas?

Thanks,
Patrick

I presume your flight path ended up being SYD-SIN on the 787 in J, before SIN-HKG on an A320 in full Y? Although that doesn't add up for me, as 120 + 40 SC. Can you explain how it credited?

I know Qantas from MEL/SYD/BNE-HKG earns 120SC one-way.

SYD - MEL in full Y,
MEL - SIN in J,
SIN - HKG in full Y.

I think on their mobile app, status credits were calculated as if everything was in J, 40+120+80 = 240

That seems to make more sense than what I posted.

I guess to an ordinary member it may seem a little unfair, but I'm not sure if there is a case or who you would go to? Do the T&C even say anything about this, like absolving them of responsibility to display the correct information, as the earning tables would show something else had you looked into it?

How did you enter this into the points calculator? By individual sectors or by complete journey?

The app tells you how many status credits you should get during the purchase process. When I was testing this on Qantas calculator I had to do it by individual sectors.

When I treat SYD - MEL and SIN - HKG as Y, I get 180 SC
When I treat SYD - MEL and SIN - HKG as J, I get 240 SC

I purchased Business Max bundle and was expecting to get business class SC for all three journeys.

If the app is wrong then Jetstar need to fix the app so it shows the correct SC earn otherwise it is classic bait and switch, you have an app that promises one thing but Jetstar know that it could be a lie as terms and conditions say, they then say tough luck, it is straight out false advertising, which in my opinion is fraud.

You might need to specify how you booked this flight, whether its on the Jetstar/Qantas or some other third party website, if you can find the fare classes this also may be useful, and the exact flight numbers (JQ or QF?) that you actually flew on, and also specify which bundles you paid or didn't pay for (if flying Jetstar) i.e.

SYD - MEL on JQ5367 (Qantas aircraft but JQ code share economy cabin with Max bundle)
MEL - SIN on JQ7 (Jetstar aircraft with JQ flight no. Business class with Max bundle)
SIN - HKG on 3K123 (Jetstar Asia aircraft with economy cabin with Max bundle)

Then try to replicate that on the Jetstar web site and then on the Jetstar app, screen shot everything and then you may be able to mount an argument if there is any discrepancy, and others here may be able to help you. :D
