Still pretty decent, best I've seen on QF all year is $698

And for that price, you can get it for just a little over $400 on the .br site! I would definitely put up with the old seats and IFE on the A330-300s AND in Y no less for that price.

Not sure I would... last time I got it to $330 from ADL + $100 back on TRS. But that was a 744 each way so at least I could get the front row with the cutouts and was lucky to get a Y+ seat on a EQP mismatch one direction. 333s would kill me, otherwise I'd try MNL instead. Do they have paid airport upgrades from MNL like from SIN & HKG?

My upgrade to J on EK was coming home on a $400 special!

They have paid upgrades from SIN ?
How do you go about this ? Enquiring at check-in ? Or at the lounge maybe ?

I have the first of three .br trips coming up in a few weeks so would love to know.

Not sure I get the point ?
Is it still $400 on .br now ? I have one more trip I need to book for early next year. Might have a look now.

Paid upgrades are often available by asking, but you get a seat and service and thats it. They are not available in Australia but are often reported overseas.

Lol what else is there ?
Oh unless you mean its one of those cases where they might not be able to give you J food ?

Happened to me once I got to ADL airport like 2.5 hours before my flight back to MEL and there was a flight in an hour and the check-in staff said they could put me on it but there was no catering guaranteed ? or something like that ?

SIN-MEL is an 8 hour flight not one hour lol so might get a tad hungry

What's the ballpark figure for a SIN-MEL upgrade ?
Like $200-300 ?
Not sure I'd pay more than that...

Try no lounge access, no points or status uplift for J, no priority tagging....

Ah i see, valid point then cheers.
Though for me I rarely check in bags these days and I have lounge access from my status. So would just depend if the price is right.

Is there always space available for paid upgrades ?
My next two flights are flying out from SIN on a tues night so that should help compared to say a fri/sat/sun ?

How long is a piece of string?? It will depend on the loadings, how many people upgraded using points etc which all are a factor, school holidays are also a factor, I had two op ups last week both SIN BNE.

I would doubt you would have luck to night for instance:

sin-mel is more like 6 hours 30 mins in the air.

So with the current Asia sale on I was looking to book a couple more MEL-SIN-SGN-SIN-MEL on QF/3K through expedia.com.br as I have done previously. The problem is even on the Qantas website it won't bring up the specials with MEL-SIN-SGN only MEL-SGN codeshare on their partner Vietnam airlines, very annoying. So expedia.com.br doesn't show them either. I can pull up MEL-SIN-MEL on the dates required for $570 return which is still awesome and could book the 3K flights seperately but would like them all on the same ticket if possible. Any thoughts from the brains trust on here?

Your better off booking the 3K flights separately, from memory if booked together they fall into the nil earn bucket.

Thanks markis10, to tell you the truth am more interested in the protection than the miserly earn on the two 3K flights.

If you get the plus pack you will get the ability to change flights anyway.

Up to the time the flight opens for check in at the airport (ie up to 2 hrs before a SIN-SGN flight on 3K), so offers a reasonable degree of protection for delayed departures (before door closing) or diversion enroute. May not offer much protection for enroute delays such as in-bound ATC delays.

Given the relatively low cost of most 3K fares it may be a risk worth taking - but if doing this I'd definitely have separate bookings for the SIN-SGN and SGN-SIN flights, so missing the first would not impact the second sector.

True, but you still have to pay the fare difference and if you are delayed when sitting on the tarmac you haven't really got much chance to change.

Depends on the connection but I normally allow two-three hours at SIN, on tarmac delays wont last that long, and I find at least with 3K the pricing does not change much, in fact I have had it drop closer to the flight.
