I saw it for the first time today and the very natural instinct is to treat it as self-serve like most of the rest of the lounge. I sort of figured out staff needed to do it for you but if they want to make that very clear they should put it behind glass IMHO.

It was nice but... this is what we strive to get WP/P1 for in QF's base?

First experience of the panini bar tonight, had the pastrami it was tasty enough, but PER pizzas and some options on the MEL spiceless bar are still better imo.

I passed through Saturday 7pm and there were no Panini on offer. The remote stand looks a bit sad in that location

First experience of the panini bar over Christmas/New Year break.

It was pretty good but the toasted option only just warmed the sandwitch and sadly didn't melt any of the cheese. Would have preferred a longer toast and melted cheese.

I also had it for dinner again yesterday went to the lounge on arrival as platinum

All in all I loved it . Surprised flavours don’t change everyday .

The only variation appears to be the sparseness of the toppings - this is mine from early December:

So its official - a 'Panini bar'? Will be interesting to see how often the menu changes there.

I remember when the Brisbane J lounge opened Neil Perry told them media they didn't open another pizza bar like in Perth because they didn't want to be known as 'the airline with the pizza lounges' and that pizza is just the same thing but with different topics. Sandwiches/paninis are somewhere in between, not as versatile as Asian spiced food (in the Melbourne J lounge) as its just two pieces of bread with stuff in between but it can be different to pizza because whats between the bread that makes most of it.

Could do a sushi bar, but then again they'd probably squawk at the price.

From my recent visit. Well prepared and reasonably tasty. An improved offering, but it feels a bit cheap (especially with the packet chips).

I'd like to see the avo toast with optional bacon on top. If there isn't bacon it isn't breakfast.

Also would prefer to have the bacon and egg panini with a poached or fried egg, rather than imitation powered scrambled eggs.

Not that I've ever personally seen in SYD Dom J, although others swear they have. Always seem to be more scrambled eggs and insipid chicken sausage whenever Im there at breaky.

I've had bacon brought to me straight from the kitchen, so it should be available.
