Qantas T-80 no longer a thing?

I recently helped sister in law (NB) with Dom whY flights. Inside T-80 but before checkin, virtually nothing available. T-25 it opened up as per EF.

This has certainly been my experience post covid.

I saw a post on one of my social media feeds the other day from a very mainstream travel company (Escape travel if I recall correctly) spruiking T-80 to the masses. Word may have got out that it's a thing :(

Edit to add that when I re-found the post just now on FB (escape.com.au) the grand total of 8 comments were very sweary and had dreadful spelling and punctuation for the most part. Perhaps their 70,000 followers aren't the sort of folks we need to be too worried about swarming and nabbing 4A at T-80!

Slightly off topic, but not worth a new thread, in my two upcoming A380 Qantas booking (award), the mini J cabin at the front is completly blocked. I don't remember this being the case in the past.

Is that a new thing? I am WP travelling with a SG in 6+months.

You’d expect that to be what the SG sees, but for “emerald city” to be blocked to you - assuming your number is attached to the booking - seems odd. Have you looked at Expertflyer to see whether seats are blocked or actually occupied?

Should be WP view AFAIK, at least that's my past experience when travelling with a SG with me. Indeed for one of those flight the mini cabin only have 3 seats on EF (plus three blocked seats in first row), maybe that could explain. Yet for the other flight, EF sees 8 seats available, 7 seats blocked, and 5 selected seats.

Not that important for those flights for me, just curious.

If you’re QF WP (your profile says SG), you ought to be able to see row 3(?) to 5.

I believe the whole front section is blocked to SG and below until T-80. Hence the nickname Emerald City.

I've seen it on every 'Flying' website and every news website in some way or another over the past few years - advertised as some sort of secret 'hack'...... it's not exactly a secret nowadays.

Ok, maybe a glitch on that booking. Always had access to Emerald city in the past as a WP. Anyway, I am on the bassinet seats for this booking (to be clear, the front J cabin was blocked before I added the infant to the booking, so unrelated).

Going on a work trip next week Mel to Syd. T80 opened up row 4 for me. ☺️
Opposite for me, flying Tue and Wed, but Row 4-8 or 4-7 are blocked (or full of P1's with shadows??)

Staying in Row 10 which I secured a few weeks back.

Edit: I'm not fussed, but sharing QF# in case people are curious
