Mr Mijatov said the number of crew on an international 747 had fallen from 16 to 15 as Qantas launch wave after wave of redundancies while Singapore Airlines retained its staff.
So does anyone know the number of crew on international 747 for Singapore Airlines and other competitors? Do others have more or less than Qantas?

Ah, but if applied to an Australian election the sheep would be excluded on preferences, and all three would end up eating detergent.
But they don't have preferences in the Upper Field, it is first past the fencepost. Therefore, there would be a hung farmament, and they would all die of starvation :lol: .

IIRC SQ has 17 cabin crew members on the 744.

However they've recently culled the number of crew members on 'regional', 2 class 772s (which carry as much as 323 pax) - from 13 to 11. These planes serve a few of their oz routes - PER, BNE and ADL. There are 4 J and and 7 Y crew for 30 and 293 J and Y pax respectively - not a very good crew to pax ratio. I flew SIN-KIX in Y earlier this year on one of these planes and really felt the difference.

The same for the long haul Spacebed-config 2 class 772s but as the J/Y split there is 30/255, the crew to pax ratio is slightly better.

The slow transfer of routes to Jetstar shows that any customer loyalty to Qantas is not reciprocated.

I think the service for Y passengers, international especially, is "surly" and the crew are "arrogant".
IME this extends to F.

Whether this is specific to QF, or rather that Australian's simply aren't good at customer service, I don't know.
A good point.

You get the impression the customer service on QF is not as good as the SQ, CX etc but i must admit atleast the QF staff will talk to you, don't get much of that on the other carriers.

Then again i have never complain about QF service, for me it is so much better than MH but i am sure others will argure the reverse. No doubt that SQ,CX,JL etc do work really hard and all night on the night flights but can't say i have a better over all expereince with the just different.

What I like about QF Intl Why service (and there are also many negatives) are:

1) They never refuse me another miniature of red plonk;

2) The AVOD movies can't be beat (mainly not American cough);

3) They can speak English, and are strongly pro_Australian.

So I'll keep flying it when I can't get a cheap J/C class fare.

SQ crew talk to you too - when you make it known that you're not going to be a demanding pain in the behind. :)

Been venting about this "survey" on a few different forums so I'd just keep my piece short.

I've flown extensively with both SQ and QF and am happy to fly with either. But I like both for different reasons. SQ is like a luxurious 6 star hotel, whereas QF is like my comfy, albeit slightly faded in some parts, couch at home. The Aussie 'feel' of QF and just the sight of the red tail, no matter what theatrics its bean counters get up to, makes me feel at home even though it's still at least 20 hrs before I actually arrive back at Tulla.

I won't fly anyone else domestically (except REX.. flew with Hazelton and Kendell before the merger too... I LIKE that little airline!)...

BUT... Internationally in y? No thanks.... there are much better options IMO...

Guys ... guys ... guys ....

We're not learning anything new here so why squabble?

Qantas is a good airline, but not a great airline. When you dig a bit deeper under that rating there is a lump of good and a bit of great, but also a large serving of average with a bit of poor as well.

Now I wonder which bits Qantas tries to put where? So responders to the Choice survey have their noses a bit out of joint and didn't like the plans to sell us out, and all these things have lead to these survey results.

Gentle members of this forum often fly in the pointy end, and most of the rest aspire to (and Qantas knows it), so would on average have a better experience. As we all know just being better educated about flying can make a world of difference in economy.

So we're all right and we're all wrong and the only fact really confirmed by this thread is ..... that Shillard is a card-carrying FASCIST!!!

Cheers,

Much better than Etihad IMHO.

Qantas won't put you in a prison in the middle of the desert for having an extra wine or two...

... and proud of it :!: :shock: :rolleyes:

Opinions vary no doubt (note I said "IMO".. I was not attempting to make some ex cathedra statement!).... for me NZ provided a more comfortable Y experience for some years.. I mainly fly to the US so that colours my choice..

I usually fly in NZ's Y+ these days... and would certainly give any Q equivalent (4 class A380 is the rumour isn't it??) a try.....

Just can't handle their current long haul seat pitch in Y.... YMMV of course.
