Qantas theft from luggage

I wonder though how do you know it was a Qantas employee.
Agree. This was exactly my point up thread about making accusations without any proof. Just because the bag was checked in with QF (or likely their agent in DPS) and was on a QF flight does not in any way mean it was always in the care of QF employees, or their contracted ones (as in Oz). Specially at DPS. I would really hesitate to point the finger in this case without any kind of proof.

Regardless of what happened......

As per Qantas Conditions of Carriage relating to baggage 8.6(a)(v)

And a typical Travel insurance PDS exclusion re carrying electronic equipment in checked luggage:
Basically anything of value is not covered once checked in....

My point exactly upthread. What the OP did was most likely in contravention of this, paid the price and tried to cry foul at Qantas.
🤣 OP hasn't been back to the site since the original post
Yeah, not surprised. I expected this.

Maybe, its because Indonesia is like that, as described by the OP.
We can't say for sure who did it, ...
Might not be QF staff at all, most likely its the baggage handlers, or even the security people, who knows whats inside bags from xray screening colleagues, earlier on in the check in process.
But, in the end, its just supposition.
OP using the words, QF, might not be the right words tho.
Maybe, Bali airport staff stole my items.
Might also be a "*roll", but who knows for sure.

From me watching youtube, it seems, that things, "just that things happen over there", that would not happen or lesser extend will it happen in Aust.
Money changer scams and other tricks, they play on visitors, also in Thailand, for eg.

We are rebel rousers/are we rebel rousers too(?)/(!)?
Not being mean to the OP, maybe they thought that outing their rage on here, if this is kosher, would elicit something.
But seeing our QF/QFF liaison left a long time ago, I guess the OP outing their rage, does one good, that we now know it can happen in the "secure" area of an airport too.
Ideally, what the OP related, shouldn't happen/be able to happen, not that we or I have the solution.
---
Also, we can't coughy trap to trap the perps, as all HL and hold baggage is x ray scanned, so I guess. in the end, the airport people who orchestrate this type of thing, ie, theft from bags in secure zones, do always win and get away with it.

Bali forum on TripAdvisor also has several replies on this. so its very bad over there.

And we only have his / her word that it actually happened! A troll post perhaps?
I doubt it.
A big Internet community such as AFF is actually quite a daunting prospect to become a part of.
I’m guessing the OP found us via a Google search trying to find some help and a sympathetic ear with their baggage claim.

It’s very easy for experienced members to point out errors and omissions in their claim.
Anyone who doesn’t get validity for their feelings is unlikely to hang around for more.

I don’t think we should necessarily temper our responses to new member posts but it’s something to keep in the back of your mind when you are replying. Something I think I have to remind myself too from time to time.

The OP was “Last Seen” 4 minutes after their profile was created and the time/date of their complaint being published here was their last logged in and online interaction with AFF. They have never returned and logged in to read a single reply. I don’t think they were daunted at all. It’s more the behaviour of a troll.

True, but this also works both ways. Whilst I'm the first to acknowledge that it's often easier said than done (especially when convictions on the matter are very strong), one needs to be prepared to stand corrected when alternative perspectives are put to them, even if it's not the response they wanted or expected.

While I agree with this, to play devil's advocate, there could be any number of reasons why they haven't returned at this point (just under 5 days since posting as I type). Travel, doing other things, whatever. If they're legit that is.

I think since no more "information" (I use quotes since after all it's an anecdote from a new poster) has come to light we let the thread sit. If the OP returns and doesn't live under a bridge, and wishes to engage in further dialogue then that's great. If not, well that's that really.

We don't know about the OP's situation: but truth be told, Bali does have a reputation.
If its as OP describes, its the "rompak" by a pillion rider on a motosikal, or your credit card account being sucked dry, or some ahem transactions appear, or the police asking for rupiah kopi, or the money changer scam, or the taksi scam etc.
