Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

What I find grubby is the expectation from a sub-set of Platinum FF that they should be allocated exit rows because they ask for it.

You forgot the expectation that a Platinum should not be left to sit in WHY if someone with a lower status has been op-uped....

Why should WP not expect it? If an exit row seat is something in high demand, why should the most frequent flyers not have the first option to snag them?

Personally I don't really care about exit row seats as the majority of my travel is within Australasia but if I was a regular long haul flyer I would more than likely change my seating preferences and really go for the exit rows.

Is it grubby for them to expect to access to the F lounge and forward seats as well?

It is reasonable to expect access to the First Class lounge since that is a specific stated benefit of the membership and if that was to be removed, that at least 6 months notice be given

As far as forward seats go, they do offer it as part of the OW benefits, but doesn't guarantee it and does depend on what their algorithm is for determining order of precedence; I suspect that the system gives the most appropriate seat based on preference based on the ordering of allocation for domestic flights

Silly question but can a Platinum put in a request for exit rows in premium economy and have these seats pre-allocated? From my understanding the recent changes are for WHY exit rows only.

I guess that's with WHY bookings. If a Y+ exit row seat is being sold as WHY then the WHY rules would apply - i.e. $$$

That's good to know. I have yet to fly int'l as a WP but it will be nice to request an exit row when I do (which wont be the next flight as that will be with mrssimongr and babygr).
