Hmm

Just looking at SYD-MEL and MEL-SYD
The red-e-deals to MEL are $120 and $137 whilst the fares back are still different at $123 and $140

I see $120 vs $123. Agree. Weird.

BNE-MEL is now $161 vv , BNE-SYD also has that $3 difference $113 vs $110.

Wonder why.

Here is some analysis. It would appear that the popular city pairs have had a sizeable increase in airfare. Justified? Make up your own mind.

Airfares mentioned by dajop on 30th June and 1st July. But these are not popular destinations. Some wins and some losses but overall a gain on the return airfare.
While I'm not defending QF's decision as I think it is wrong, I think your comments on DRW/ISA/PBO/ZNE are unduly negative. Based on the figures you've posted most round trips have reduced.
I am confused. I broke my analysis into three parts. The destinations mentioned by dajop in earlier post, the SYD to popular destinations flights and my golf trip example in October. The only negative statement was the increase in airfares from and to Sydney.

How do you summise that "Some wins and some losses but overall a gain on the return airfare. DRW-CBR and CBR-DRW have both increased though." is a negative statement. I was referring to the one way airfares between the destinations and a "a gain on the return airfare" followed by "DRW-CBR and CBR-DRW have both increased though." should have been clear that "gain" meant that it was a gain for the passengers not an increase in airfare. If I used the wrong words I am sorry. I can't edit my post and replace the word "Gain" with the word "decrease" which should avoid confusion on the meaning.

The important thing as I see it is the airfare comparison not my narrative so make up your own mind on the airfare changes.

Where do you see this anomaly? I see SYD-MEL $121 and MEL-SYD $121 and SYD-BNE $111 and BNE-SYD $111.

Actual booking site.

Eg BNE-SYD (2 Oct 06)

BNE-SYD $110
SYD-BNE $111

115.76+104.58 for 1 adult = $220.34

When I checked earlier on Sat, it was definately $110/$113. Maybe the Qantas website is still getting used to the new fare levels.

The programming may not be complete. It appears the front page is OK yet the booking page still shows anomaly.

BNE-SYD $109.47
SYD-BNE $110.87

Would be interesting to see a full breakdown of fare/taxes/charges etc for a set of flights after these changes.

May have to make a booking then call Qantas and ask...

I have just checked the airfares on front page red e-deal specials today.

SYD-BNE $110
BNE-SYD $113

Is that even?
