Qantas to Launch SYD-AKL-JFK (June 2023)

I’ve flown it a few times since and just about to do QF4 again.

I have GE so can’t comment on US Immigration at JFK. I also sometimes get an F host at AKL so that speeds things up but from my general understanding it’s not as much of a shambles as a transit experience as it was at the beginning of the route.
Thank you, that’s helpful

Last time I went through US Customs on landing off QF3 was back in December 2023. I used MPC and it worked well. Straight through. Others on the same flight took 2+ hours to get through the non-US immigration line. Sometimes you need to prompt the staff shepherding passengers into the various US / Non-US immigration lines and show them the MPC logo on your phone.....

landed just now, with MPC it was a 30 minute wait

non MPC the line was snaking around bottom of the escalators down to CBP....

QF has its own counters - they are located to the far left-hand side of the terminal when you enter.

The BA/AA Premium Check-in will only accept the following pax:

The whole QF check-in experience at JFK, including Business/Priority lanes, is very underwhelming, and I say this as a P1 who has previously been given an escort through security (on my insistence).
I flew AY through JFK back in Jan and was allowed to use the BA/AA Premium check-in to go through to security. They just checked my boarding pass at the front and let me through, although it wasn't too busy and there wasn't much of a security line anyway.

The line you're talking about is the general Business/First/status priority queue at T8. BA/AA operate a premium check in area that is separated for their Business (OWS etc) and First (OWE etc) pax. The First check in area is fully isolated and spits you out right at the TSAPre line.

Thanks for clarifying, I got them confused. I meant to refer to the First check-in. After I checked in with AY, I walked over to the First check-in area for BA/AA, they checked my boarding bass at the door and let me in. I walked past the check-in desk and right to the front of TSA like you mentioned. Not sure if this is standard protocol, but it worked for me.

I wonder where the extra 787 rotation will come from. Or is this from the JNB being actually swapped to 380.
