Not the exact tour, but the cost in points + pay checks out:

This is just another way to burn points at 1c each.

So will Luxury Escapes be dumped? one presumes they can't have two competing type partnerships there?

as for TripADeal they do advertise heavily, I suppose maybe a slightly lower market point than LE, but they always seemed quite similar to me in terms of some advertising (such as Hilton CNS type package deals and the like).

but yeah, no surprise this announcement was of no real interest. yawn.

Haven’t done the sums but 1c is better than most non-flight redemptions

The going rate for flat "points + pay" options is usually 0.7c/point - this includes Qantas flights, Luxury Escapes, and others. Qantas Store is 0.55c/point (compared with their own inflated cash pricing) or 0.75c/point with the current sale.

The going rate for "classic ground rewards" (Qantas Hotels, Journey Beyond train trips) can exceed 1c/point.

I guess that would be a call for Luxury Escapes to make - I suspect Qantas would happily continue allowing the burning of QFF points at a fixed monetary rate.

Who on earth are TripADeal. Never heard of them.
Oh I have. And I won’t be using them. See this thread for why.

The Byron Bay based online travel business …

… well, naturally! That’s exactly the market service Qantas would go with 🤣🙄

And when the announcement talks about “booking a holiday experience “ - does that mean using the Cape Town call centre I wonder when the flights get cancelled or the hotels can’t handle it?
Well, yes I agree with you @RooFlyer, they seem pretty low rent based on our dealings with them. Qantas is in a race to the bottom.

Yeah, they seem to be splashing the cash around with this and the planned Alliance acquisition (and of course sunrise, but have less qualms about that). Remarkable given how dire their financial situation was.
And still pay freezes for staff!

I was hoping Alan Joyce would finally come out and say the silent part out loud, that he's doing his level best to dump QF in favour of the luxury airline business he founded, JétStar.
