No problem with the Sydney F lounge a couple of weeks ago flying to Norfolk.Anyone had any problems accessing the F lounge? I thought I read somewhere that only Aus-NZ pax were allowed in at the moment.
Was this on 9/5? If so I was in that queue, took just over an hour from arriving at the airport to being checked in, but given the lack of anything else to do I wasn't too bothered by it!NLK not coping well with a delayed BNE flight and the scheduled SYD flight.

Although it does look more “international” with two red tails at the terminal.
I’ll try and do a seperate TR with some updates when I get home and have fast internet.
I used it on 7/5, it was open literally only to serve NLK, since every other flight (to NZ) from SYD was canx that morning.Anyone had any problems accessing the F lounge? I thought I read somewhere that only Aus-NZ pax were allowed in at the moment.
The day I arrived (at NLK), the lady at the check in desk of my accommodation said she was surprised to see me given the weather, apparently QF have been more cautious when the weather is poor than NZ are/were. Was a terrible day weather wise, to be fair. That explains why a BNE-NLK flight diverted to AKL spent 3 hours on the ground then went back to BNE.
I'm not surprised about the QF extension (Air NZ told people it was likely) but I am a little bit surprised that it isn't for longer.Looks like QF have been extended until at least 29 August.
That coincides with around the time when Norfolk Island became part of the Aussie Migration Zone, so they probably ceased to exist at that time.I'm leaving on Thursday. The big question is do Norfolk still stamp your passport? I've seen online passport stamps as recent as 2016.
Yeah that was my thought. The Federal government were actually trying to get the ACT government to run it, after they took self government away from Norfolk Island. I'm not sure what is happening right now as I think NSW and Qld also rejected the idea of running Norfolk island for the Federal government. They still vote though as members of one of the ACTs electorates. I know the ACT government asked for direct flights yet the Federal government were not willing to do that. I'll find out ThursdayThat coincides with around the time when Norfolk Island became part of the Aussie Migration Zone, so they probably ceased to exist at that time.
Nope, your passport won't be checked on arrival at all and on departure only by airline staff.I'm leaving on Thursday. The big question is do Norfolk still stamp your passport? I've seen online passport stamps as recent as 2016.
No stamp. It’s effectively a domestic flight.I'm leaving on Thursday. The big question is do Norfolk still stamp your passport? I've seen online passport stamps as recent as 2016.

You can even travel without a passport (using a driver's license/age card instead) but this isn't advised if the flight ends up in NZ plus you can't buy duty-free.
You need it for DF out/back and on the island (if you want the Bond Store DF rate)!Lol my passport is coming along for the ride
Similar to Taswegia. No stamp. It’s effectively a domestic flight.
Interestingly the Bond Store didn't ask me for any proof of eligibility, I was def given the DF rate though. You need it for DF out/back and on the island (if you want the Bond Store DF rate)!
They sound like my kind of people.Interestingly the Bond Store didn't ask me for any proof of eligibility, I was def given the DF rate though.
What’s NZ reward availability been like historically on the route? Poor I assume.Looks like Qantas will come to an end on 29 August. I guess anyone looking to use QF points to Norfolk should do so before 29 August.
Air New Zealand has recently signed an agreement with the Australian government to take back the Norfolk flights from 30 August 2021 to August 2023.
One key thing is that Air New Zealand will open a Brisbane crew base temporarily from 30 August 2020 until 30 November, this will ensure they can operate the Norfolk flights without problems.

It was actually QF taking on the route and reward flight availability which prompted me to go, although it’d been on my to visit list for some time, so maybe a return visit using SQ miles would be in order one day.
Traditionally Air New Zealand award availability has been poor, but sometimes seats appear randomly. (The same can be said of NZ partner award availability generally).
Having a look now, there are NZ redemption seats available to book using SQ miles on BNE-NLK on Thursdays (only) and NLK-BNE on some Fridays & Sundays from September onwards.
