Hong Kong Business Lounge

A new Qantas Business Lounge will open in early November on Level 6 of the Hong Kong International Terminal. The updated lounge will feature increased seating and shower facilities, enhanced food, beverage and entertainment options, and additional workstations.
Hmm, ISTR the current J/F lounges are on Level 7, so I presume we'll get a 6/7 split level J/F facility (like the Wing).

Shame they can't just enter into an agreement with Cathay and they can extend their lounges a little more.

Is the existing offering a QF/BA joint venture, so the new lounge will be too?

Maybe they're already paying too much for all the WP's and SG's who are using the CX lounges instead of the QF lounge ....

The main benefit of the BA/QF lounge is the fact that it is near the BA/QF check in desks and the likely gates for QF flights. The Wing is much further away.

... The Wing is much further away.
Not that much further given one needs to head almost right back to the central pier before reversing direction and heading out to gate 18 or whatever.

Perhaps there will be a lift now available to obviate this process? (Similar to that of the Wing for CX flights in the low numbered gates)

Exiting the Wing though (unless going to Gates 1-4) I always use the top-floor exit, then down the escalators to Level 6.

The current QF lounge is a embarrassment and the updgrade is long overdue.

I wonder what "enhanced food" will mean

Think of all the other enhancements QF has blessed us with.

But on the other hand you wouldn't need to do much to enhance the present offering.

"Enhanced food". Nothing to get excited about if QF Lounges are any guide..
:o

You mean like the sofitel managed SYD F lounge with restaurant and Spa of the lie flat beds on the A380 in J and suites in F?

I'm in PER so what SYD gets is of little value to me.

Lay flat beds was just playing catch-up and their offer in most of their fleet in now pretty much the average for airlines in this area.

Suites in F are reportedly a poor cousin of the competition.

Your views may (or probably will) vary. :D

Aah ... definitely improvements but were these things publicised as "enhancements"? That word "enhance" seems to have a very specific meaning in QF-speak ....;)

I have found in recent times (many trips through HKG since July) that Qantas is now mostly using the even-numbered 20-28 gates rather than the previous use of gates 15-19. So its much the same walk from The Wing as from the Qantas Club lounge.

Absolutely NM, last time I left HKG (Feb 2009) The Wing seemed to be closer to the gate, which made the choice very easy:lol:

Glass half full then...

Just to challenge a couple of points. If you are in PER and thus SYD is irrelevant then HKG is possibly less relevant....

Re suites - I think only CX, EK and SQ (maybe ethiad?) have suites so this would put QF above BA, LH, AA, RJ, LAN and all American carriers.

Please note that my carrier of choice is CX followed by BA and only QF in F.

Thanks for the good news Serfty I will be able to try it out in about 4 weeks.

Finalized some bookings today to Europe via Hong Kong both ways.

Well I don't want to get into a p*ssing match but:

I am far more likely to (and do) use the HK lounge than the SYD F lounge.

Suites: your comment is invalid since suites only apply (so far) to the A380 and none of your quotes airlines have one of those yet.
