Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

think you choose to believe what you want to believe. The rest of us are busy booking J seats.
Did a quick scan of SYD-LAX for 2 pax. About 10 days have J availability with QF. None with F. That's actually pretty good for QF. AJ's really turning around the ship.

Both your dates have 1 pax. Fantastic if your partner is happy to travel 2 days later from a different city 🤣 .

So as per your allegation of zero availability, that's not quite zero is it?

Honestly...

I was responding to someone looking for 2x J seats.

Honestly .... 😂

Didn't you just say you found days with two seats? I really can't be bothered arguing with you anymore to search it myself, but pretty sure that's what you said.

Yep. And my claim was that pretty much at any time over the past three years, you would have found 0 availability. Which is true. What you're seeing on SYD-LAX is the last few available seats from the most recent random release, which occurred 5 days ago. That's all. If you had done the search 6 days ago, you would have seen 0 availability. In another few days, you'll once again see 0 availability.

And yet so many of us here have managed to book J flights to/from the USA?

By the way I am not a retiree, digital nomad or a person with a "completely flexible work schedule".

You, CruiserElite, downgraded and Lynda??? I guess on some possible definition that is 'many'.

People are of course getting the award seats that are released. That is why they tend to mostly disappear in a matter of days even when randomly released and not publicly announced and why the Qantas website crashed on the HY results release lol.

I just received the below email from Qantas (not related to this thread about the release of award flights in Feb, but somewhat still related):

Hi xx_xx_xx_,

We've added more Economy Classic Flight Reward seats to dream destinations so your Qantas Points can make your next trip possible.

Start your next adventure in the USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand or the Pacific Islands with Classic Flight Reward seats available on every eligible flight, for travel between 1 February 2024 and 21 June 2024. Hurry, book by 11.59pm Thursday 28 September, unless sold out prior.

I just booked QF J rewards NAN - SFO on FJ (A350-900) for Sept next year.

FJ does have availability popping up via QF more regularly and in advance, but availability on QF's own metal remains as elusive as ever, notwithstanding today's e-mail and its lovely economy caveat.

So much for hoping these publicised seat dumps would regularly include premium seats. 😬

Nice (there are also J seats on Anzac Day Long Weekend), however I want to be in US or EU next September, so I will just keep looking for elusive J long haul seats or request a release.

What Id like to see is a decent J sales to NAN circa 2022 prices of $1500 return, as Fiji is a long weekend for me so not best use of points for me.

VH taking a leaf from the AJ playbook. No Manila or Santiago. No business class. Small booking window.

Not good enough Vanessa!

It's the tiny booking window that irks me most!

3-5 days for these things is pretty normal. The only people who generally take any action during these things are people who already planned to travel then anyway and were waiting for a sale or reward drop.

But if you mean Feb-June travel period then I agree; as most people planning a leisure trip in the next 6 months (up until end of April) will have already booked their flights by now.
