Qantas travel insurance?

We are traveling (2A, 2K) to Canada, UK and Rome with stop overs in Dubai and Singapore.

Trip is a mix of paid and Qantas classic rewards in business class.

Is Qantas travel insurance our best option to be covered? Or are there other policies that are better / would still cover us for the reward tickets?

We also have an AMEX card that some travel will be booked on.

Trip is 6 weeks in total if that makes any difference -

Thank you!

I got a quote for a single domestic trip with Qantas Travel Insurance and I couldn't believe how low the quote was. For 3 weeks a comprehensive policy was $104. All other quotes were between $650 and $1000. The policy looks to cover most situations including $8000 rental car excess which I will want covered.
A quick bit of research and I found some really bad reviews on Product Review. Out of 26 reviews the score was one star with only 1 review really happy. Problems were lack of communication, overseas call centre, lack of knowledge of call centre staff, not paying out according to the policy etc.
I'm wondering if any other AFF'ers have had a good or bad experience with Qantas Travel Insurance?

Going have to see how good their policy is. Had a run in with a gutter, quite a nasty rash on the alloy rim, much more than a 2 cm scrape, so guess I’ll have to pay the rental company what ever they charge, and then try and claim it back from my Qantas policy.
Haven‘t had this happen before, so not happy Jan……. :(

Will be interested in your experience with the claim. Apparently they can be notoriously slow in responding.

I was going to tell the company, but it was a drop the keys and go, so maybe they won’t notice, but I would be surprised.

I did similar but even worse damage to a rental car in Norway. When I dropped it off I showed the attendant the damage and said I expected a bill. He took careful note of it. As I was walking out he said that normally no-one ever voluntarily pointed out such damage to him and thanked me. I never received any bill for the damage and I strongly suspect that he quietly tore up the damage report and binned it.
