That’s because of the way wages are calculated in the USA and how EXPECTED tips REDUCE what the employer is required to payYes we did see many of these. I just love it when they list 15/20/25 as the default percentages for tipping. You do have to navigate the terminal to find the 'No tip' or 'Custom tip' options, making it even more difficult to avoid tipping.
Lots of places creating the expectation of tipping that would not have done so previously. Very disconcerting!
No wonder during COVID so many people didn’t want to go back to work. Their employers were just awful bosses
The Fair Labor Standards Act allows you as an employer to take a credit for the difference between the amount you pay the employee (a minimum of $2.13 an hour) and the minimum wage amount ($7.25 an hour as of August 2022)
