Any pics to share?

I'll have to get around to sharing them. We weren't allowed to take pictures ourself in the catering facility so downloading from other sources is required. But the facility is amazing with a series of temperature and air pressure zones within the building. Highest air pressure in the food prep rooms and such, lowest air pressure in the area when returned catering is cleaned, creating airflow away from the most hygienic areas.

I guess someone has to think off all those things!

We did indeed see some special meals. Not avml, that I recall. We actually had a big discussion about AVMLs not making the aircraft. The system is actually amazing complex. I always assumed that things would be standardised. But even in the QF 737 fleet different aircraft, by rego, require different oven trays, for example. An equipment swap will most likely mean change the trolley type, the oven trays might have to change and even the meals might have to be moved onto a different tray.

Here be a selection of the picture from my phone.

Random pictures of the maintenance hanger. QF A330 and JQ A330 in for servicing. I think the JQ was there for conversion and the scheduled work was 35 days and 40000 man hours. The Planes plane (767) was also waiting for work. Apparently it's last service check before retirement.

You didn't happen to see a bunch of JessicaTam's special request meals sitting in a corner did you?
Oh dear, it seems my food preferences precede me!
I am a twit but what is twitter?

I recognise 2 people in the photo.
Twitter is a new fangled thing that the youth of today use to discuss what they are having for breakfast and other inane subjects. I have never used it as I have enough trouble remembering to login to FaceBook once a month.

I found the fact sheet, in case anyone is interested. These number relate to QCatering Brisbane and FY14.

The facility is ISO22000 certified
Customers include Qantas, Qantas lin, Singapore airlines, Cathay and Thai.

19,000 meals on 126 flights catered per day.

I think the annual numbers are:
  • 16,000 litres of beer
  • 196,000 litres of Coca cola products
  • 211,000 litres of milk products
  • 1,189,000 litres of water
  • red and white protein 6.9 T
  • seafood 12.2 T - SQ seafood special meal is supposed to be the best option
  • 9.2 T of poultry
  • 126.6 T fruit and veg
  • >320,000 carts washed per annum - and they really do wash everything, the whole cart

Hopefully, it's ok to publish these numbers. They did give them out.
