I read somewhere that Silver with Qantas Club gets priority over Silver. Does anyone have more insights on this?

And now the return flight...

Flex Economy to Business upgrade successful on QF59 (SYD-HND) tomorrow at T-25 as SG.

I also upgraded my domestic leg, but success there was no surprise for a 6:30am flight that looks half full!

Its complicated.

I booked Y initially on Dec 31, cancelled and rebooked Y+ and got a new PNR Jan 1 and then had to change domestic US flights on Jan 3 under the same PNR which lost my upgrade request so I had to re request.

I think he booked on Jan 2 so may technically have been a little ahead of me on the request given the re request.

I think its be classified as a rewards booking as it was originally a rewards flight on EK404

Unlikely upgrade path as QF would've rebooked you in U class (award) but who knows QF might release an F ticket award.

QF291 on 11 January - put in a last minute - like 25 hours before the flight - Classic Upgrade request from Y to J for 54,500 points. Cleared at 3pm this afternoon.

No success for W to J on QF292 (SIN to SYD) on 04Jan2025 for WP+NB

Success for J to F on QF11 (SYD to LAX) on 07Jan2025 for WP (received text message at T-28 and email from concierge an hour later).

Question for the Brains Trust please. My brother and sister-in-law (both bronze) are flying on a CR flight SYD to CGK in Y in March. I think they can put in for a points upgrade to J. Would it assist move them up the pecking order if I, as a WP, requested the upgrade on their behalf. Or is my status irrelevant? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

No, it makes no difference unless you are P1

I disagree when I was WP amd requested upgrade for family they always got the upgrade in the same time as a WP and not as a Bronze.

Agree, status of the requestor is the biggest factor when it comes to priority be it P1 or SG, both have some weight

Were you travelling on the booking with them? Then the upgrade would be processed for the whole group as Platinum.

But if you're not travelling, the request needs to come from a P1 for the family upgrade request to be processed with priority, according to the published benefits:

Use points to request a Classic Upgrade Reward for an eligible family member. Where possible, it’ll be processed at the Platinum One priority level, even if you're not travelling.

This line doesn't appear on any of the other Qantas status pages.

I don't think there's been discussion on AFF about WP priority family upgrades being an unpublished benefit... but would love some concrete data points to suggest otherwise (especially timestamps of upgrades for non-status pax)

There has been such discussion, but it is years ago, some even before the intoduction of P1.

Anecdotally, WP requested upgrades did seem to get some priority.

Hi sudoer no I wasn't travelling with them. Perhaps Qantas have enhanced the system lol

Thanks everyone for the input. I decided to request the upgrade on their behalf as there doesn't appear to be any downside in doing this, but potentially (?) some upside! I will report back after the flight....even though that really won't provide any hard evidence to support either view. Thanks again.

If they get the upgrade 24-48 hours before departure it will be hard evidence that your WP has had an impact.

Colleague was successful Y>Y+ on the same flight.

I booked and requested the upgrade earlier but they were on a flex fare vs my saver

Last minute success at the gate Y>Y+ although in a middle row. Think I preferred economy aisle with a shadow
