When asking for spirits they hand out 50ml bottles so you can make drink as strong as you like. Although not that important the IFE on BA is not as good as that provided by QF.

Depends on priorities I guess. :)
My way of thinking is - on QF, you can just ask for two bottles/shots of spirits, but on BA, you're stuck with the woeful IFE.

I only get fragmented sleep in long-haul Y, so I like to make use of the IFE as much as possible. In BA I think I exhausted every decent movie/tv show/album in the space of 5-6 hours (which was a bit of a pain, given it was a 20hour flight). On QF, I've always been entertained for the entire flight (especially on AVOD flights, although the downside there is that I hardly get any sleep ;)).

Cheers,
- Febs (so glad to be sitting in 34C on QF on the way home later this week. :D)

Were you both statused or just one of you and was the itinerary linked? I flew with mrsimongr in WT+ a few weeks ago. Initially I had my AA number (no status then) in the booking and was advised on the BA website that "seat pre-allocation limit reached". I switched to my QF number (SG) logged back into BA to find i was able to allocate seats for both of us.

I have found phoning and choosing a seat with QF a little strange as on my last AKL-SYD flight at check in I was given a better seat than I had been able to get when phoning for allocation...

There's always the chance of that happening at checkin ... better seating becomes available when someone changes flights/upgrades etc.

Happened to me arlier this year when I had 23D on AKL-MEL 763; two days before the flight it was changed to a domestic configured 767 that did not have a 23D at all. I had very poor allocation after that but on check in I ended up with 25A/B to myself!

Both on same booking both silver flyers and i am a member of qantas club for life. the booking clerk said once pre allocated seats are all issued nothing can be done until check in.

The point I was making sorry was that pre-allocation being full is open to interpretaiton - its full for silver but might not be full for gold or plat.

Weird though that they would allocate one of two people on a joint itinerary..
