Qantas Wellbeing App

I finally got around to downloading and using the app - mainly to tick over the QF Green thing. I don’t have current QF Insurance (that I’m aware of - some travel insurance in the past) and my step challenge points are of the order of 8k/15 pts p/d and 150 pts per week. I sent an invite link to SYD+1to download the app but they’re only getting 1/10th of the points! Does that sound normal?
10% of the maximum earn is the payout for non-insurance holders.

So it appears the system still recognises you as a QF Insurance policy holder.

So the piddling low numbers are normal? I vaguely recall seeing that ages ago and possibly why I hadn’t used it since.

It is normal. There is a survey useful for getting Green tier though (they need to fix that one though so that it'll reappear to do it a second time for a new membership year) and there are other surveys that you can do every once in a while to get some extra points. I agree that the points earn isn't great from the app, but it is a useful way to keep accounts active for infrequent flyers.

Yeah, that’s why I finally got around to logging in (for the Green Tier).

I did all the surveys (health, car, house security etc). All of which I got 10x points compared to SYD+1!

Turns out it appears that the 28 day “Trial period” gives the better earn rate. Yet the invite to SYD+1, subsequent download and use didn’t bestow the same favourable earn for their trial period! I still got 150 pts for the referral but less overall between the two of us…

Lesson there - just nudge your friends and family.

Does anyone know whether I would still get the full amount of points if I take out a Qantas car insurance policy but don't have a Qantas Health insurance policy?
No, you wouldn't get the full points. The only thing that changes with Car Insurance is that you get the full points for completing the car related questionnaires (eg brake test, book a service) when they pop up every 3-6 months in the wellbeing app. I'd estimate the total points earnable at being about 500-1000 per year if you were vigilant and checked weekly if the surveys had re-opened again - it isn't worth much.

I did all of those straight away, so got the max pts each - well, at least once. Thanks for the tip to keep checking from time to time.

I’m new to the app (and QF health insurance) and going to the US next week. Does it still work fine there assuming you have It setup before you leave?

How does it manage time zones? Does it work off the phone setting and you effectively get 48 hours for the day you fly over - or does it work off AEST? I’m guessing comps would have to be AEST as there is only a 12 hour calculation period at the end of the week, which would be insufficient for US TZs.

Basically yes & yes.

Trouble with time zones of course is felt more on the way back home if you skip a full day.

But also depends on the health app you are syncing with eg you could manually set time zone in Fitbit for example rather than auto-sync with phone/ network time zone. Just means your "wristwatch" date/time is wrong until adjusted back to auto 🤔😀

Well mine worked perfectly even on sea days in the Mediterranean. Mine is just linked to my apple health. The only problems I have is that the Wellbeing App stops working every few months. Contacted the Wellbeing team the first time and they said uninstall the App and reload. now done it 3 times and nothing is missed. Last time downloaded was at FCO. It catches up with all the data virtually instantly.
So that is my IOS experience. I don't have an iTunes account and the times were the same as where I physically was. So basically did miss a day flying back from LHR.

The app uses the phone timezone and I discovered a hack using that to your advantage. If you realise your short a few steps and its already past midnight (can be the next morning). Don't open the Wellbeing app but quickly teleport yourself back in time eg HNL using the phone timezone. Then open the Wellbeing app and reduce the daily (or Weekly challenge to suit). Revert back to your local timezone and continue on your merry way!

That's it my friend! Sync schedule + timezone management can be quite advantageous 😉

Oh, and do all the "Health check" things. There's actually a reasonable number of points there and they come up again from time to time.

First thing I did when I downloaded it.

I've only had it two months and already earnt 7.5K points.

Monday's going to be a long day then... better set it to 20K.

always was there since day one of the app in operations... and congratulations on your extra points :)
I got 40 points for that particular challenge... must be because I have Qantas Health Insurance.

My app is telling me that I've earned 202,295 Qantas points with Wellbeing and Insurance. I think that includes sign-up bonus points and 1 point per $ on premiums, as well as points from the Wellbeing app.

I had to update my app recently (something about the link between Google Fit not working).
Thing is, the earn rate has changed by shifting one decimal point!
Used to get 6 points for 2k steps per day (on the phone).
Now it's 0.6 points. Anyone else in a similar situation?

That is the normal rate unless you have a Qantas insurance product. I often do 20,000 steps or more per day and get 2.2 points.
