I have a hard copy offer letter that came by snail mail several months ago.
If I fill it in soon and return it to Amex do you think Amex will honour the deal? There doesn't appear to be an expiry date on the offer.
And, in breaking news, Amex now has a new offer out.
My son received junk mail from Amex addressed to him yesterday, offering a Blue Sky Credit Card from American Exprss, No Annual Fee, 6.99% interest for 6 months on balance transfers and free enrolment in Membership Rewards 'Blue Sky.' I'm not sure about the benefits of the 'Blue Sky' rewards program but I suspect that it does not allow points transfers to QFF.
Applications must be submitted by 10 Jan 2009.
The offer is also available on the web, although it is slightly different. The free features are the same but the wording about the Membership Rewards program is a little ambiguous - I think membership in the rewards program is free but perhaps not so! The web offer closes on 15 Dec 2008, almost a month before the mailout offer.
There's a half-price offer on points redemption for flights at the moment which makes the points quite valuable. A return flight Syd <=> Mel costs 8,000 points, half the normal fee. (Points accumulate at the rate of 1 point per dollar spent.) The catch is that the half price offer ends on 31 Dec, leaving you without much time to accumulate points.
