QantasLink launches 2 new routes [ADL-NTL & BNE-WGA]

Given Wagga has two military training bases (Army and RAAF) and Brisbane is close to other military locations, as well as being convenient to transfer to DRW I can see a bit of potential in the routing.

Interesting and yes this could definitely fill some seats and at pretty good yield too I'm sure.

We have used WGA quite a bit over the years but not so much in the last couple of years so will be interesting to see how a service BNE goes. Beats the horrible Dash to SYD 🤣

It's not really the kind of Defence business that's heavy on air travel - especially when it's driving distance to SYD/MEL and CBR. Not saying they won't use it but I hope QF is not counting on them to be the saviour.

It's the bigger industry bases like Williamtown & Amberley and higher HQ places like Canberra that generate a lot of the traffic.

Obviously there's a lot more to Wagga and the surrounding region than Defence so don't take my comments as a criticism of the route.

I don't think it's unlikely at all.

Quite a lot of smaller airports that have QPs.

It's already on the master plan for the airport. It will happen, question is when.

Didn't NTL have a multi user lounge in the early 2000s? I think it was called the John Hunter Lounge.

I vaguely remember a multi user lounge but as you said that was way back in the early 2000’s and it must have got “lost” in the renovations

Are you sure it wasn't a "VIP Lounge"? ;)

To be honest, of all the airports I'd rather be in without a lounge, NTL would be it. It's got a great bar with great views of the runway. Good stock of local wines from the hunter valley and even some local gins. Prices are reasonable unlike most capital city airport bars.

Close... It seemed to be called the Hunter Lounge. As described by their website (back in 1999):
A members only facility providing a private club area with free fax and phone. Newspapers and light refreshments are available at no charge. The membership fee is currently $50 pa. Hunter Lounge members are offered one third discount on the use of the undercover park facility.

ooh - free faxes!

$6 per day for undercover parking? Add a zero to that now.

The lounge was gone by mid 2000s when I started using NTL - well before the current expansion (and I vaguely remember there was a previous expansion in the early 2000s which is probably when it went).

Excited about the ntl adl as mentioned by others, assuming the connections to and from PER look possible this could significantly improve same day connections.

On that note, starting out it requires just as early start or late finish and isn't necessarily shorter duration than bne or Mel - it's been a good 5 years since I've visited the adl QP. Though it might help with the "get to Newcastle by dinner" objective.

Hopefully the connections tighten up over time.
